And Queen of Everything !
Thank you,she will match our white dog,but she choose us by coming straight down her ladder at the cat protection to meet our dog with no fear so it had to be. She is tiny and will need to stay in until she is 6mths and I am not sure how we'll she can hear things.Ooh pure white, we had one once they aren't that common. Suncream on the ear tips if they are free range. Very pretty little thing!

She seems to manage to sleep though us coming in to feed her but is a whirlwind when awake . We have to be careful of the dogs ears as well. Our white one could hear fine. He was also a rescue. He did have very early cancer of the ear tips by the time he died at a good old age.
Of course! She is The Cat. They rule the world. And Queen of Everything !
Whilst most of us on this forum understand exactly how you feel not everyone is the same, but a true friend would acknowledge your pain and be sympathetic especially so after the help you have given her. That crass and hurtful remark therefore merits her downgrade from ‘friend’ to ‘acquaintance’, or lower if you so wish, together with a distinct keeping at arm’s length. The boatyard have moved the late King Kevin Kat's private yacht to a mooring closer to the bank. I can still see his paw marks where he used to pull himself up into it, so that he could crouch on the chart table and plan his next voyage. I mentioned this to a neighbour who I've helped financially and practically over the years, as she earns very little money. I saw her earlier in the week and said (apropos of the boat being moved) that I still missed Kevin, even though I have The Ultimate Fat Cat in Madam Carrie Catty. She said "Oh, for Heaven's sake - get over it. That was months ago!" I felt really upset, but didn't say anything and waited until I was aboard until I had a good cry about it. Madam Carrie Cat lent me her tail to wipe my eyes. It was seven months ago, and pts was the wholly correct outcome, but her disdainful comment has really hurt me and I can't stop crying. Any advice, apart from being somewhat aloof from the neighbour?
So the poor little mite is completely deaf and I have been told by the vet to keep her as a house cat. We have a garden and wondered if anyone has used fence rollers to keep a cat in, or could recommend anything else to keep her safe.?View attachment 123010
Thank you for replying to me Finnishlapphund. I am so gutted for Hester kitten. I have not had a cat for 25 years after we lost one on the road. We have recently moved to a rural location and thought she could have a great life exploring. Our garden is small about 25foot x 40foot, so will need to work out how to keep her in. She is very feisty and think she will be very determined to escape.I have one cat enclosure both in the city, and another one at my tiny Summer cabin, and for many, many years, and several different cats an inwards bend at the top of the fence similar to this one have been enough to keep all cats inside my cat enclosures (somewhere between 20-30 cm)
(ETA: Sorry for the mini thumbnail size picture, but HHO simply refuse showing the larger version. /ETA)
But then I got Fröjdis last year, and this year in my city cat enclosure, she's found her inner escape queen.
First I enlarged the inwards bend so that I could stand under it and look up at it (well over 40 cm), with a few cm turned upwards in what I hoped would look deterring for her
But I'm now in the process of trying to add a fully fenced roof on the city cat enclosure, and I'm not sure how I will dare to go back out to my tiny Summer cabin unless I'm somehow able to do the same with that cat enclosure (they drive really fast on the straight part of road going past the tiny cabin).
However please note, we've had several other cats before Fröjdis, some of them was even just like Fröjdis fond of jumping/climbing quite high in adventurous ways, and it's still only Fröjdis that I've found laying on top of the fence's inwards bend!
One of the rescues from were my family got 3 of our late cats ages ago, had a very, very large garden fenced in with around 2 metres tall net, with only an inwards bend at the top, and that kept almost all their cats in. Only their difficult cases that they worried might still try to escape, was kept in an enclosure with a whole net roof in one area of their garden.
So, if your new kitten doesn't grow up to be an escape queen, your fence is tall enough, and you add something at the top so she can't just climb straight up, and over (and also that there's nothing too close to the fence that she could use to help her escape), that will probably be enough to keep her where you want to. But if you want to use both belt, and braces since she's deaf, then consider building a catio with a net roof for her.
@Ratface Please try to stop doing favours to persons who doesn't appreciate it enough to even try to pretend to be compassionate in return. The boatyard moved the yacht King Kevin Kat liked to use as his own, which reminded you about him, so you said you missed him. What's wrong with replying with e.g. "Yeah, it's not easy", "He really was a special cat", or something like that.
It's not as if you broke down in hysterical crying, wailing on her shoulder about them having moved "his" yacht, and even if that had been the case, saying what she said still would've been unhelpful.
People than don't have animals are the one's that lose out.The boatyard have moved the late King Kevin Kat's private yacht to a mooring closer to the bank. Going to try a harness but she needs to grow a fair bit.
So many ideas, thank you . Cardboard is definitely a big hit with both the kitten and dog. We would like to keep the garden open but still need to work out the best way to keep her in. The good thing is she is OK wearing a tiny harness so I can get her out for some fresh air.@Clarabel I just stumbled over this Shorts video on YouTube, and thought of you/your kitten. Perhaps it can give you some inspiration to stuff you potentially could do to make your cat's indoor life more exciting
If your house is small, or you have lots of bookshelves/paintings/something else covering the walls, you don't need to give up a whole wall, maybe just see if you could squeeze in something. Come to think of it, I have something the cats can use to climb almost straight up to the top of some tall furniture, and when they want down, they can choose to scramble down the same way came up, or jump down to a cat tree.
While I'm talking about things to make her indoor life more exciting, I might as well also mention that you can get very creative with cardboard boxes. These days there's even readymade options that you can buy, and assemble
But if you prefer to DIY, there's loads of ideas online about making homemade cat houses from cardboard, and cats doesn't really care about how fancy it looks, so you can make it as good or simple looking as you like
On top of that, even though my cats seems happy with the quite standard looking cat trees which I own, it's also possible to spice up their indoor environment a bit with getting a bit less ordinary looking cat trees.
E.g. Mau Pets makes cat trees that have a bit less straight shapes, and some of their models uses real tree branches
Tuftandpaw Milo cat tree have a completely different type of look (made with Birch plywood, supposedly good for heavy scratches)
Sure, an enriched indoor environment isn't the same as wandering around outdoors, but never forget that just like being an indoors/indoors with catio cat have both its good, and bad sides, being allowed to go out freely also isn't 100% positive, without that also have its negative sides. Such as the danger of foxes, territory fights with other cats... I think it was earlier this year someone posted about her cat getting severely bullied by the local magpies, or perhaps it was crows/ravens...
