Just wondering why there is a fashion for riders adding their own initials onto eventers?

All Ollie Ts have ODT, Terry Boon now has TLB and Bill Levett has the NJ prefix.

Surely a normal name would be enough as their record shows who bought the horse on?

Not if they're sold abroad, we have had one, competed and then sold to america a horse that 2 owners before us came from Bill Levett so still has the NJ on her name and all know that.

Its just like a stud prefix only easier to work out exactly where its come from. For example there are the irish KEC horses from the Kennedy Equine Centre which they have bred/produced but often they have other bits in their names to show their breeding too!

Also a lot of the names such as oli have stable jockeys riding them at lower levels so it shows where its actually come from.

Ego? I don't know, sounds daft to me but I'm a simple soul. I'd add WCY (will cost you - when I sell it to you) or am I being cynical
