Set the scene.
Have 2 welshie's, Max and Flash, out on approx 10 acres with a mare(Smarts), TB. My broodmare goes out with them in the day, and catch her in at night. Today Smarts rug had slipped and she is impossible to catch so she followed the broodmare in, starightened up rug and put her back out. There are 2 gates to this field, 1 to the side with a hedged lane going away from it. The hedge opens up into the field about 100 yds on. The field next door has 5 geldings in.
So went back round to put broodmare, Spongebob and Cheekster to bed and all the others start galloping. My mum comes runnning round screaming her head off.
'Hes jumped the gate! Hes jumped the gate!'
Now Max is usually the instigator of all trouble, if theres a way to get out he finds it and Flash usually follows. If he cant find a way out he sometimes makes one. Flash is very timid, and gets led astray by Max.
Turns out it was Flash who jumped the gate, was simply going too fast to stop (not the bightest). Cleared it clean, never even brushed it.
Heres a picture of him in front of the gate he jumped. As you can see hes not the biggest, and about 18 months old.
