Hi,
I am thinking of buying a MAN 8136 lorry. Its in great condition for its age (C reg) but I have heard the parts are really difficult to get hold of and are expensive. Can anyone comment on this please? Have you got one / had one and experienced this? I would like to know the full story before I buy one and can't afford to maintain it!
Thank you all in advance.

Yep, I had one a few years ago and it was one of my favourite lorries:) But I think it was an R reg. It was one of the more reliable lorries I've had and I don't remember it being particularly expensive when it needed anything doing to it. However, obviously the older the lorry it will be more difficult to get spare parts. There are a couple of helpful mechanical experts on here and I'm sure they will be able to help you.

they stopped making them in about 1993 and there isnt a lot about for secondhand stuff.. yes they were very good I knew two people with them I think rust was the main problem ...not sure about new parts maybe you could ask a man agent... to be honest a Leyland daf 45 might be a better bet as there is 100s of them about and you can get quite a lot of non genuine parts and used parts easly which does keep costs down if something major goes wrong..
