As some of you may know I had a hellish year last year, with ankle injury and horse effectively having to be retired at age 7 due to spinal arthritis.
After surgery on my ankle and regaining the ability to walk in May this year I have been umming and ahhing about getting back on-board. I wanted to do it at my pace (slightly dictated too also by the physio) and didn't want the pressure of anyone judging me for being fat/unfit/terrified of doing my ankle in again (I havn't been able to walk properly or ride since November 2016) so I didn't want to go to a riding school or take a part loan.
A good friend of mine advertised her lovely veteran gelding for loan about a month before my operation and I made a throw away comment that if I wasn't so fat and broken I'd have had him in a shot.
About a month after my operation he was still available for loan and It really started niggling at me that I needed to get back in the saddle and he was awesome and trust worthy and a lot closer to the ground than most (being only 13.2hh). So I contacted friend and started discussing having him on loan. During the time we were talking I managed to lose a stone and a half so felt a lot better about something smaller and not pony squishing too badly (though I still have a way to go before I'm completely happy with my weight (all put on due to being unable to do any exercise for the best part of 17 months)!
So on the 1st of July, after a 4.5hour lorry drive my new pony arrived!
Everyone meet Little cob AKA Kirkhamgate MrCool. He's 13.2hh and 17 years old and an absolute darling (as well as being fairly well known in the show ring).
He has even had my niece up on him!
I'm hoping that my show kit will fit and that I can get all the stuff together to have a play at a local show soon ish.
