What would worry me here is that there seems to be a very small no. of people involved in this, you and a 2 other people. Surely this leaves a very narrow opinion? So far most of the approved animals seem to be owned by the owners of the studbook.

You are not going to see a large number of stallions approved, licensed or recognized in the coming few years as this would violate the breeding goals and strategies detailed in the documents approved by the Minister. We are building a genetically concentrated population of stallions and mares as we believe this gives the best probability of success in breeding international showjumpers.

There are 5 stallions in Ireland that we invited (through their owners/agents) to apply for approval. One had the invitation withdrawn because he could not pass our veterinary requirements (despite being approved by two major studbooks).

The easiest thing to do is to open the floodgates: it would bring in large sums of money from inspection fees, activation fees, etc. But it would violate our strategy and we will not do this.
