Well, I did say I would update today about how my ride went. Overall I am much happier with how things went this time around, and I took 3 videos during my ride as well, and you know I dont do that unless things are going well ok at the least!
This time I didnt even bother trying to ride her in my backyard, I was kind of tight time wise because I was going to cook, and had alot to do prep wise, not to mention I cant cook so i was stressed over that, but anyway. I headed out straight away vs trying her out in my backyard. Right off the bat it was eventful, I cross onto the neighbors property, pull out my phone for the first video, get it going and then zoom, there goes Shiloh being chased by the neighbors dogs, at least twice maybe 3 times he lapped us, every fiber in his being bounding along in happiness as the neighbours dogs chase after him barking and growling (they play that way) Red... didn't care. She sees it all the time, and she has long sense gotten to the point where she mostly ignores dogs under saddle, to the point to where she wont even go out of her way to avoid stepping on them. At least she doesn't try to attack them under saddle right?
Well with that drama in tow we continue on, she oggles the boys across the street as we go along, she may be coming into heat, she is usually quiet in heat except when she oggles the boys across the street. Anyway along we go, and if you watch the video you will notice I just dont shut up. I completly admit to being 100% nervous, but I was talking mainly to make sure I kept breathing. We go into the hayfield and everything stays all right, she stops for a moment, and I told her she can poop and walk at the same time, after all it is possible. Im trying to video and ride and everything at the same time, so everything is kind of messed up. Im trying to guide her with two reins in one hand and well it just wasnt happening, I would accedentally tell her to go one way or the other too much so she would turn and well keep on turning. So I had to mess up the video and straighten both of us out, then go back to the video and have it go ok for a moment before I start screwing it up again. BUT through out the whole thing other than the directing her issues that was it. Nothing like the last time we were out.
I stopped videoing and rode her some more, I did stay more in that area vs broadening out. I chose to take the cautious route vs pushing the issue, in anycase the hay field does end on a very good note.
After that we left and went into the subdivision, oh the joy, she gets to oggle the boys even more! we walk along some before I once again whip out the camera and start videoing again. Overall it went good, I had her go down the hill, walk around a bit before going back up the hill while keeping her at the walk. Yea it would be easier to allow her to trot, but I wanted her to work up the slope not take the easy way out, every now and thenh I do allow her to trot up the hill. I put the camera away and we continue on around the subdivision before leaving it, like the hayfield, on a good note. However she did need a figurative spanking, she wanted to run with the boys who were showing off, a very mild correction and she behaves and ignores then once again (really think she is coming into heat)
We head back towards home and stop breifly by the neighbours before ehading on, we take a small detour down the parralelle trees on our property then continuing on and I once again pull out the camera, and video going into the property next to mine, Shiloh makes another appearance and then joins us out there. She did good, the video was a short one and I put the camera up, we walk around, I trot her down most of that little rode, walk a bit turn around, trot her some more, walk around a bit and then I do one final trot session before finally heading home. After each trot session she behaved, she did stretch her legs a bit during one, but she didnt act up or even offer to act up. We made it home in one piece and me still in the saddle, Red enjoyed herself, and overall Im very happy with it.
