Little tb seems to have developed a very slight 'squishyness' on her backs, just above fetlocks. Ever so slighly warm to the touch and just a tad squishy.
She's sound as a pound.

I assume windgalls.

I know they wont/shouldn't effect her at all but I am a bit miffed. I'm very careful with her and she (was) so clean legged, not a hint of splint or a splodge of swelling anywhere :(

I understand windgalls are just a sign of wear and tear but my question is... is it even worth doing anything about it? Is cold hosing and all this magnet crap actually likely to help.. or should I just accept that these are here to stay?
I've never fed a joint sup to anything in my life before.. but it would appear tb ownership is a whole different ball game

personally would hose for a bit, but they are now there to stay and usually don't cause any lameness and yes it is a factor of wear and tear to the legs, but really shouldn't worry the horse at all.
My old boy had them and they were quite large and never caused him any harm, still jumping long hacks, but he did get bandaged up at night on his backs as his legs used to fill.

Just go about your duties as normal with her, boot her up if you wish or just leave her au natural.

Hey :)
I'm reallly sorry to go off topic here but im really worried about my boys legs...I'm not sure if he has windgalls. I've never had any experience with them so I was wondering if you would be able to post any pics of what your horses to look like for comparison?
(sorry for sounding like a completely numpty :o )

thank you
xx

My 6yr TB has them on her hinds - one in particular is massive and seems to have gotton that way with the hard ground - hers normally go down with exercise but shes not been doing much for the past 6 weeks so they are like balloons - will get some pics tomorrow :)

My mare used to get (fairly small) windgalls in summer when she was younger. I took her shoes off around 10 years ago, and she hasn't had the windgalls since despite working at the same level.

I'll attempt to get some pictures tomorrow for you - although not sure you'll notice much, they're very slight.

.. Thats very interesting about havibg your horses shoes removed SE..
I'm toying with the idea of going backless anyway.. so it'll be interesting to see, if I do whip her backs off..if there is any change.
