When you've been running around a SJ arena for 3 days, the last one in torrential rain and freezing cold its more than a tad annoting to be hanging around at the end of the day for competitors to turn up which then dont.
We could have been home from ALW a good hour or so earlier yesterday if all those that had decided to withdraw after DR or not turn up at all had notified the sec. Thanks to all those that did but if just one person doesn't and they are on later in the day then we have to stand around like lemons (frozen ones) waiting for the non-existant person to appear.
It only takes two minutes to let the sec know so please do. :D

OMG how annoying for you - I must admit, I did think of you yesterday after all the lovely sun (after a dodgy start) on Saturday :(

We did withdraw one after SJ before XC - always intended to, and notified Secretary in plenty of time - as you say, it doesn't take a second and Secretary's was nice and close to Lorry Park so there was no excuse in that regard.

Sorry we didn't say hello but in fairness you did stay well out of the way, leaning on your planks in the middle of the arena :D I nearly whispered "Mine's a gin" as I rode past you before I started, but wimped out in case I then had everything down :p Needn't have worried as first-timer's eyes were on stalks and there was no way he was going to touch a pole :D T's pony was clear too, you didn't look to have a lot to do, pole-picking wise: it rode very well despite being fairly up to height (esp compared to last year), and the two relateds seemed to work ok on a variety of stridings :o :D

I agree that's my bug bear too, when I help it's usually at x-c somewhere and it drives me crazy having to wait for people the worst are the ones that are sometimes 2 hrs late but u can't close the x-c without accounting for them, which is when the PA gets well used!!!

At my age I need something to lean on :p
Course did ride nicely but then Grahams courses always do.
We weren't rushed off our feet friday and saturday, sunday required a bit more pole picking up.

All the HHO members competing there over the 3 days and the only person to say hello was SpottedCat who's round I have videoed on my ipad. :(

Awww, now I do feel guilty! But in fairness, you weren't giving out "come say hi" vibes you looked very self-contained and professional :)

I was on Saturday afternoon on quite an eye-catching little iron grey pony with a very cute face, I showed him the first fence beforer I started (which he treated with great disdain...) T would have been harder to spot on Saturday morning, on a plain bay with no markings who did a clear while playing the fool and spooking so badly at the viaduct wall they arrived at it sideways on - so that doesn't narrow it down much from what I saw :D

Its all show, honest. :p
Now really, I watched close to 850 horses go round the SJ over the 3 days.
Had trouble remembering my own name by day two let alone individual horses.
Only horse that I really remember was the the one that decided it didn't want to go in the ring. Reared up and came down in the grandstand seating (boy can people shift when they need to), got tangled and managed to lift it completely off the gound at one end.

very rude of people, i'd be annoyed too.

eeek, hope it's alright. "that'll learn it", as they say... going in and jumping a round would have been so much easier...

That grandstand horse nearly squashed me flat - I came to take refuge by you as it looked decidedly safer the other side of the ring entrance!

It was v nice to meet you and have a chat. I am decidedly relieved that I did not give you anything to do - though I think I was lucky at fence 2 ;)

In all honesty I think if people W/D but dont tell anyone they should get a big fat E put on their record instead! Manners cost nothing and on days where there are lots of horses, short daylight, terrible weather its an absolute pain in the backside to be stood around waiting for someone who isnt going to turn up!

Im sure if they knew they would get an E put on their record they would soon be over to the secretary for an official withdrawal!

How can you withdraw without telling the secretary? If you don't tell anyone, you haven't withdrawn, you've just failed to show and surely you should get an NS 'No-Show' on your record although an E would be better. How rude some people are :(

Am fence judging at Poplar Park on Saturday. Usually it is a squeeze to get everyone round before the light goes, so I hope everyone turns up on time.
