Sorry to harrass you all but I remember everyone being thoroughly encouraging and supportive when I mentioned my grand fund-raising efforts, and many pledges to contribute were made which I am now following up on!!!!

Just to recap.....

Starting on the 6th of June (Bramham Sunday) I am walking the 196-mile Coast to Coast route to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Too many of my friends have had to have an unscheduled helicopter ride following eventing/hunting/racing accidents. Two of them wouldn't be here today had they had to travel to hospital via a road ambulance. It seems criminal that this service isn't government funded.

I am walking alone and aiming to complete the walk in 12 days . I now have only 40 days until I set off and am struggling for sponsorship money.

Please, please, please give something to this cause, even if it's 50p. I'll do all the hard work! I've been out this afternoon and route-marched 12 miles over the moors, but I'll need to step it up shortly. I'm planning a 22-miler for Saturday!

OK lecture over :o

I will donate a little bit later on today, and also send it round anyone who may have some spare cash!! This year's going quickly isn't it?! :o

The Air Ambulance is a very worthy cause.

As you probably already know (I mention it a lot) my OH is a trustee of Herts and Essex Air Ambulance.

All the money is from public donation, no Nat lottery funding, no government or NHS funding.

The Air Ambulance is more than just a high speed ambulance, there is a golden hour after an incident where the outcome for the patient is considerably enhanced if treatment is started within that time.

many Air Ambulances now carry a doctor on board (funded by the public again) as well as a paramedic so treatment can start at the scene.

Please donate.

Done! Wow, thats coming round quick. Hope the training is coming on well, a timely reminder as I had forgotten that I hadnt sponsored you.

I hope it manages to be enjoyable as well as a good cause.

Thanks for the reminder, had forgotten to do it. Donation now made and very best of luck to you.
We are hoping to be in Grosmont on 18th June which, if my maths is correct, I am guessing is your final day?? If so will look out for you making your way up the hill!!

You are all fabulous, thank you :D

I hate pestering people for money but if I'm going to trudge all that way I'd like to make it worthwhile :)

OK, no probs! Oddly I get paid on the 24th of the month so I forget that other people may have wildly differing pay-days.

Donated and a "bump" up the page for you!
Good luck- its a great charity, just a shame they were fogged in when OH broke his back but so many friends have used their services over the years

Great cause, done!

Might be worth putting this in NL, as it's not just competition riders who need the Air Ambulance. My neighbour got bucked off in her own school and broke her back. The Air Ambulance took her to hospital and luckily, after a long rehab, she made a full recovery
and is back in the saddle!

Best of luck with all that walking!

I didn't post a reply yesterday when I donated, but I've just seen there have only been 18 donations since this thread started, but it's had more than 600 views. I only donated a tiny amount, and I'm certainly not going to tell people which charities they should support, but if all 600 people had chipped in a little bit ...:):):)

Good luck to Gamebird, I think air ambulances are a really good cause, though why they are not funded by the government is beyond me - it's not just riders who benefit from them after all.

Very best of luck, good timing on the pay day front!!!! All done, such a worthy cause.

Just a thought, I raised over £3000 for the lifeboats a few years ago, stupidly running marathons, but a lot of (large) sponsorship came in from local busineses (often related to the cause?) Can your local paper help you and do a nice article, stating all your fundraising websites etc for people to donate??

Or if you helped at a local equestrian centre for the day, would they add 50p onto all their entries for your charity that day??

Just some thoughts but you see where its going.......

Thank you all so much. I'm sure I shall walk much more purposefully knowing that I have all of you behind me placing your size 11's (or whatever :p) on my behind every time I feel like stopping!

I'll post this in NL and in Hunting too. Smart thinking!

SW - I'm going to email our local paper today, great minds.... It's also on EWW and a couple of other places and should be shortly going round our hunting and RC emailing lists.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

I think Friday you will notice a difference as lots of people get paid on last day of the month (myself included) - can I have your permission to post elsewhere to help the cause? :)

The other thing you could try is asking your local ECs which are running events between now and then if they would allow you to turn up with a donations box. I would imagine that if people have just ridden x-country, safety will be at the front of their minds and they'd be more likely to donate something. But that depends on whether you have time to stand around for a couple of hours at the weekend!

Just saved myself £ went on to donate and was reading all your messages when I realised I'd already donated! durrrr what a plonker. Good luck have fun enjoy it and well done for picking such a worthy cause :)
