Hey guys, i was just wondering how those with horses are going to deal with going to uni, and what they are planning to do with their horses whilst they are there.. the nosey cow i am!!

I am at uni 8 hours away from home and I sold one horse when I started uni and kept the other one. The one I kept will never be sold, so mum looks after her whilst I am at uni and then everytime there is a holiday I am on the first train home and last train back again to ride and compete her.
 
My uni is a 4 hour train journey away, and my horse is on full loan whilst i am away. Uni is so much more complicated when horses are involved isnt it?

My uni is 2 and 1/2 hour train journey away, I'm selling my horse as I can't afford to keep him and family are not horsie so will not do him for me

I went to uni 3 hours away from home and made the choice to leave my horses at home with my parents. I came home every weekend to ride and during the wek my parents and brother took care of them. Although they weren't ridden during the week they were still clipped, rugged and stables like they always were.
 
I went to university about 2.5 - 3 hours away from home. My horse was on full livery at home but changed to DIY at uni. I didn't have time to look after him myself when I was doing my A levels but had plenty of time when I was doing my degree.
 
I'm moving all the way up to notts to go to uni - have already found the perfect livery yard for rocky and will be taking him up there on a part livery basis (was going to do diy but worked out the prices and once bedding etc was taken into account part livery wasn't any more money!).
Will still be competing him etc - I wouldn't move anywhere if i couldn't take Rock with me!
 
i tried to find somewhere to keep mine, but not knowing the area only knew the main places and all were full.
i put my horse on full livery, which cost a fortune but i was taken the micky out of as i could rarely get down (4 hours away in car) and his care was cr@p. then my mother bless her who has never had any expereince of horses looked after him for me. horse was retired from riding while i was away.
now ive graduated he's up here with me, wish i could have had him here the whole time as he hated being retired
 
I'm going to uni 2hrs away and I'm taking my horse with me. He's going to a DIY yard 10mins from the uni so he'll be kept pretty much as he is now except he'll come in at night in the winter. The only downside of taking him is that I have to pay for everything myself but I'm sure I'll manage.
