I posted this last year

I've had a PM asking how he is doing so I thought I'd share these here.

Wales and West Arab Show - Novice Geldings - First ridden class of the year and only his third ridden class ever!

So those of you with broken horses, even those who are as broken as Dennis was, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I was there! and I saw you...I didn't know your history but I remember thinking what a beautiful horse. "Well done" sounds sounds feeble in the light of everything you've both been through, but you've done miracles and deserve every success.

What a lovely inspiring post!! My horse has been "broken", diagnosed last September finally with a tear in her DDFT. She had been on box rest since April 2009 for a joint mouse which although was there, wasnt the cause of her lameness. She was finally diagnosed via an MRI scan. We did months of in hand walking through the winter, after work at 8.30pm in the dark, rain, snow, you name it. Finally I could ride her in February, she was on box confinement for a further 3 months to build up strength in her tendon. She was finally turned out on May 9th and so far, fingers crossed, shes still sound and is getting fitter. Every sound day is a bonus and I hope it carries on.

Well done you and the pictures are gorgeous.!

What a beautiful and very lucky horse to have you to care for him in the way you have. It makes me sad to think that it does all come down to money, and there is no way I could afford to do what you have done.

I have just read your original post and ma so pleased for you :)

Really! Were you spectating or competing?

That's not me riding. Its Louise Maryon who bred him, I bought him from her as a 2yr old. I was the groom :).

Thank you everyone else for your kind messages. Its certainly been a journey and I hope a continuing one!

This is going to sound really stalker-ish but my horse was stabled next to yours at the rehab yard back in 2007. I was there seeing my horse when the farrier came to take your boy's shoes off just after he'd arrived.

He looks absolutely amazing! Well done for persevering as he is an absolute credit to you.

Thank you for this! :)

My horse is "broken" too currently :( we are at the end of our tethers, can't work out what it is, lame, sound, lame, sound, lame etc etc and she has just recovered from laminitis too! Now trying magnetic boots...anything is worth a go at the minute! In the last 12 weeks I've ridden her about 5 times, as opposed to riding her every day :(

so thank you for showing that perseverance does pay off and well done! He's beautiful :)

What a small world!! Dennis used to pester your horse no end to play with him. I keep meaning to get in touch with Gill to let her know how he's getting on.

Thank you for all the kind comments xXx
