Just been away for 3 days training with a guy I've had a few lessons with before. He's classically trained, a beautiful rider (competes his lusitano stallion at grand prix) and he is simply the most inspirational trainer I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Day 1 we arrived and settled in, he rode Moon for a few minutes to get a feel for her, complimented me on her training so far (

) and then we worked towards improving her connection. OMG I've never had such a huge change in the horse's way of going in such a short space of time! Bless little Moon, she tried so so hard and was just a delight to ride.
Day 2, despite a pretty bad hangover as we got a bit lost in the philosphy behind dressage over quite a few glasses of wine, went even better- Moon just went so nicely I couldnt get over it! I then watched him teach and ride all afternoon which was exceptionally interesting.
Day 3, again nursing a hangover! Today felt like everything came together- she's no longer a stroppy baby, she worked with incredible maturity and again, was a joy to ride.

I'm so proud of Moon (in case you cant tell!) She tries so hard and gives everything, with Boss you felt like he never really tried and didnt respond that well to training so it's lovely to have something that reacts instantly when you ride properly.

I'm hoping we can now get some better scores with her in a more consistant outline and with a bit more quality about her stride.........

What a lovely positive post - I can tell how thrilled you are and I bet your scores from now on will reflect how you feel.

You must still be flying high after 3 days away with really positive training by a top man and sounds like you enjoyed yourself in the process! Its a fab experience to go away training with your horse and come home ready to move on up.

Sounds like a great sucess!!!!!

I know what you mean about suddenly 'clicking' and getting that good flatwork. I had the same pleasure the other week. I have someone come to teach me who rides hers to adv dressage and shes actually given me the confidence to sit up and ride twig forward up into my hand. Twig is a 4yo tb from a racing yard - very sharp off the leg and being a baby ive sometimes backed off a little trying to get her to steady. who now after that one session of 'connecting' is trotting round with the paces of a warmblood - this is coming from an international judge who teaches us! I couldnt stop smiling once i had that feeling trotting round

Moon sounds like she is coming along great! How old is she? I know you have go her doing novice and shes taken to it pretty quickly which is very impressive!

Were only doing flat with twig at present as i only have a dressage saddle at the moment (should be sorted in a week or two!) Instructor seems to have great ambitions of us contesting byeh next year and I feel silly in the fact im starting to believe her! she just seems to be taking to everything we do with her perfectly!

Great stuff, nothing beats the feeling when it all comes together! Here's hoping she remembers what she learnt at her next event

Sounds great, and I really hope your scores improve now, you and Moon put so much hard work into it.

I think I need to do something similar for my SJing right now, and maybe I can suddenly "see the light"!!
