It's never too late and it sounds like you've done well coping with what sounds like a challenging mare at times! Like others have said I think if you find a good sympathetic instructor I think you and your horse will really enjoy the lessons and may help focus her mind from wanting to charge off everywhere at speed. And what you learn in your lessons will feed into your hacking out too so that may become easier and more enjoyable. Fingers crossed it will all come together and you can start having more fun.
