Thought it was about time for a prince update. For those that dont know princes story he was diagnosed with navicular, bone spavins and KS in august. Had extremely poor feet made worse by him pulling a shoe off each week to the point the farrier had nothing to nail to. so we made the decision to try him without. he had his shoes taken off 6 weeks ago now, and i felt awfull :-( he was sooo footy but was comfortable on the pea gravel untill that froze up.
Its been tough in this frozen weather, he has been quite sore with it but im perservering (sp)
Farrier came today and was very surprised at how good his feet looked, they are much tougher (not soft and splodgy anymore!) he was expecting them to be all cracked etc.
here are the photos of before, during and now. We have a very very long way to go but early stages look good! Still not much growth but im hoping this will come with time.
Thankyou for everyone that gave me advice on his issues, hopefully once the weather clears we will be getting him fit again and aiming for the search 4 a star ex racer in july that we missed out on this year.
The photos will be big, i cant be arsed to go through them all resizing them, the computer throws a paddy!
This thread is not to start a barefoot debate either!!

The damage he did pulling shoes off.

ben and jerrys if u make it to the end!

he normally gets naf pro feet but stopped eating it (fussy bugger!)
he gets unmollassed chaff
a+p fast fibre
equine america top form pellets
seaweed
butless and navilox
adlib haylage
the profeet worked best for him because it was good quality growth. all the other supplements just made his feet grow and splay!

Great, they're looking much better, and at this time of year too, when hoof growth slows? Bet you are very pleased! :)

im glad i just went for it, i wasnt sure because of how footsore he was but had alot of assurance from here that it passes over time, he was walking comfortably around the yard after 10 days.

Wow, looking much better! Is that new growth below the coronet since he had them off? Looks like his feet may end up a totally different shape! (Enlighten me, I'm totally clueless when it comes to these things :o and I'm interested to know :D)

from the first photo and the last the nail holes are at the bottom now so something is happening ;-) i think they might look normal soon in the whole 4 years iv had him!
