Okay heres a good one....

think hyperthetically (sp?) that your friend has decided to kick off a business as what she calls her 'little project'

and then comes out with it....

She has decided to start up a riding centre for the disabled, shes gone straight in, has located three plots to choose between and has a businesy person (dunno what the hell they are actually classed as?! ) helping her choose the best stuff, helping with sorting out supplies and finances and may be willing to sponsor her. She has BHS stage 3? 4? its pretty good shes been riding since knee high etc and she pretty much knows what to do with a horse, but im a bit worried tbh, its all a bit crazy and out of the blue. It sounds like a good idea, so someone reassure me here.

Now shes aksed for some help

(YAY) so ive said ill think about it, i quite fancy it really, just for the setting up bit as the actual site she wants is a bit of a trek, i can put some manual labour in for knowledge, but is it all too good be true?

When she gets it running she will employ staff etc and is having faclities built on sight so it wont be JUST her

I've done some business brainstorms with her, insurance, funding, liability, access, security etc im not quite sure how its gunna work but what can you guys suggest?

Is she crazy? Am i crazy? Aint it a crazy world? lol
What else should she be considering etc ?

Thanks for your help

I've looked after disabled children and it is a highly skilled area, if she hasn't had any experience with all the different disabilities she may encounter I'd suggest she volunteers somewhere so she gets an idea of what she could potentially be dealing with. It is immensely rewarding to seem them blossom but can also be incredibly challenging and at times very distressing. The RDA do fantastic work.
Good Luck!

An indoor would be ideal, obivous facillities like a disabled toilet, hoists, ramps etc. a mounting block with a ramp at horse height so people can be lifted directly from a wheel chair onto a horse. I would recommend contacting The lottery and other funding agencies, she may be eligible for some grants as she is setting up specifically for disabled clients. We got lottery funding to adapt a building putting in lifts and a disabled toilet.
