I was at a miniature show on Sunday with Inky. He is a yearling colt and is now very aware of his "bits" The classes i did were mixed i.e mares, colts, geldings and when i was too close in the ring to the filllys he obviously reacted and dropped his Willy. ( it is now i find myself slightly embarrassed.....
) He played up to them as to be expected but i got quite a few disgusting looks in the ring. He was no more difficult than i would have expected from a colt and there were others there reacting the same. I kept him away as much as possible from them but the situation left me slightly embarassed as i would have expected some understanding from fellow competitors. I discussed this with my boyfriend who was watching the class and he said that there were a few doing it but he noticed that the owners hit/tapped the end of their horses willy with their sticks before entering the ring in an attempt for it to be put away!
If you have got this far well done..... My questions are what are your opinions on stallions/colts behaviour in the ring? Inky was well handled and his behaviour was controlled and he posed no danger to anyone else. Are you understanding of their behaviour if it is not dangerous? and lastly what are peoples opinions on hitting/ tapping their willys with a stick? I have never seen it done and never heard of it but to me it seems a little cruel. Am i wrong in thinking so?
