Just wondering how much your Arabs grew after the age of 5ish? Bought my girl just coming up to her fifth birthday, measuring 14.3 in her shoes - I'm sure she's grown in the last couple of weeks. I know my section D grew nearly two inches between 5 and 7 and certainly filled out a lot, but what is your experience with Arabs?

Ishara was just over 14hh when I got her at 4yrs 4 months and last time I measured her she was 14.1 but think she's a good 14.2 maybe a bit bigger now at 6. I agree they don't tend to fully mature until they are 8 or 9 so definatley possible to have grown.

My amazing arab x who had to be pts at the age of 6 (R.I.P) still had some filling out to do. I wouldn't of thought he would grow much more but he looked lovely at about 4 then at about 5 started looking slightly babyish and again was in the processes of filling out a bit.

One of my arabs was purchased as a two and a half year old. She wore a 5ft 6" rug . The following winter she was wearing a 5ft 9" rug, it was a little big. She grew into it and had that size of rug until she was 8 years old, that autumn we had to go out qnd buy 6 ft rugs as she'd grown that much during the summer. She was approx 15.3hh. As a 3 year old a prospective buyer came as said he didnt want her as he didnt think shed make more than 14.2hh. She has a lot of egyptian blood in her, I have had others with egyptian blood and they have all been late maturing.

When i bought my boy his breeder said he would make 15.3hh, hes now only 14.2hh at 2, so i was starting to think he wouldn't make the height (id be happy if he didn't to be honest) but after reading that I'm starting to think he might be in with a chance....better get my step ladder on order then :)

Have spent a fortune on 5'9 rugs, so could really do without going up a size!

Might be nice if she grew an inch though... Couldn't cope with much more though - I'm only little

I think its unlikely that he will make 15.3hh if he is 14.2hh as a 2 year old. I think he will more likely make 15.1.

I bought my boy as a 2 year old when he was 15.1, he didn't really finish growing until he was nearly 10 and ended up at 16hh but then he is 3/4 Egyptian and they are very late maturing. He hasn't worn his own saddle for 2 years and I've just had to have it made 1 1/2 inches wider to fit him (thank god I went for the adjustable tree option!).

Bought my pure-bred girl aged 4, was 14.3hh. She didn't stop growing until she was 7 (& then started to fill out properly), ended up 15.1hh. Looks like her daughter is going to do exactly the same.

My 6 year old arab is 14.3hh and still looks an absolute baby, he looks like he has an awful lot of growing up to do! I think they are quite slow to mature, a lot of people think my boy is 3!
