The instructions say that once diluted, the solution should be used within 24 hours.
Does anyone know why? Is it just that the effectiveness would reduce?
Thanks!

I tried mixing it up in a spray and reapplying. It definitely didn't work as well with subsequent applications

Thanks all - that's what I thought. I had mixed it with another fly spray in a bottle, didn't know if I should chuck it, or could use it again. The spray I mixed in in with is a citronella based one.
:)

I mix mine up and keep it for longer than 24hrs - still seems to work fine and when I checked with the vet he didn't have any concerns about me doing it this way :)

I mix it then sponge it all on. instructions say once every 4 weeks or every 2 weeks if flies or bad.
cant see why anyone should mix more than they need then keep it.

I mix up 500ml at a time and mainly use it in a spray bottle. Occasionally I do sponge it directly onto their head and necks.

It still works OK.

It clearly says on bottle use all diluted solution within 24 hours of making up.

I think whilst it is meant to work upto 3 weeks on the horse, it doesnt work as well if sitting in the bottle and then applied after a few days.

Personally I make it up, and spray horse until all I have made up has been applied. I want it on the horse and working. I only use every 2-3 weeks in bad fly season.

I hate applying it - affects my asthma and nasty to breath. Once occasionally is enough. I use other things inbetween.

I think it does survive washing, as I think it goes into hair and skin. Nasty organophosphate stuff! But needed sometimes.
