I know that a lot of you will compete your horses in one discipline or another and you want them to look their best, but if you are not competing how often roughly do you bath your horse?

I don't compete at all, but will bath my horse every couple of weeks in the summer, on nice hot days (when we get them!)
But he gets a really good wash down after every ride anyway.
In the winter, I don't bathe at all, cus it's too cold

Maybe once of twice a month in the summer......with a hose down whenever she comes back from a ride sweaty....

This winter the poor old girl was done once or twice a week, but that was for hunting!

As conniegirl, usually every week cos we're competing & he's grey. I just do a top & tail i.e. head/neck & tail if I can get away with it. If I'm not competing, I wouldn't bath except if he was sweaty in which case I'd rinse off with the hose. In winter he has a snuggy hood to minimise bathing so I only have to do his tail.

Tail gets washed once or twice a week - it's white, trying to be orangey/brown......

The rest of her gets washed when we go to show, but during the winter - no full baths. Just a good groom and liberal squirts of cowboy magic. The tail thing gets reduced to once a week. I'm not that heartless.

I'm very very lazy when it comes to bathing and they are not done very often. They're washed off if they're hot. But as to bathing, only if I'm going showing and only if I have to! I haven't bathed anything this year yet! Done legs and tails though - does that count??

I dont wash unless I feel the need to! I wash my grey got BE things, but for BSJA I tend to just do the minimal (tail / legs etc.). My Welsh Cob is dark bay so I can get away with taking him to local stuff un-washed usually (plus he's hell to bath!). The ponies get washed probably a couple of times over the summer, they're retired so dont really need it. All mine live out 24/7 so I dont wash unless for a big event generally! Never wash in the winter, the grey competes as a brown horse then...!

wash the coloured (tail is black phew) every 2 weeks or so to try to stop stains building up
dark bay ISH gets done before shows, she looks the same before and after really anway lol

Currently horseless and have been for a while but the lovely mare I had for 4 years prior to Uni used to get a bath every 2 weeks or so during the summer and during the winter/autumn only when absolutely necessary although she absolutely adored it whatever the weather!
