A question........

........Who thinks that tense, neurotic owners/handlers create tense, unsettled horses?
I know for one that my horse does not cope well with people who faff about and stress around him, it really annoys him.

Hell yes - I totally wound up the TB I took out yesterday.......poor thing!

Great that the horse is so good with you but, that probably makes her feel even more stupid and then she becomes even more neurotic?!!!!!!!

Yep! Poor woman, she is one of the nicest people you will meet, but she does make me laugh sometimes, she told me the horse was awful in traffic, but I never had a problem with it, when I hacked out with her on it, I realised the problem was everytime a car went passed she yelped! so poor horse jumped out of its skin

Dont think she will ever change though, its the way she is with everything

One of the mum's on our yard was shouting and screaching at her daughter just as I brought Toto in on Friday , he's normally calm and laid back but he was jumping around with his ears flat back and all tensed up

, told her to shut up in the end because she was upsetting all the horses ( diddn't go down too well

Yes - my old YO was a total nutcase and so were all her horses. They bit, kicked, charged, bucked, reared... My mare totally changed when we went to the new yard coz we could both relax!

Oh yes! My wife has a work colleague who's wife owns a Section D. It is fizzy at the best of times, but with her on board it's completely mad. She clucks and twitters about the poor animal and totally winds it up before she ever sits on it, and it does not get any better after that!

The only time I have seen it calm with her was when she was waiting to enter an arena and it was pouring down with rain. She sat completely still, trying to prevent the ingress of water and the horse stood absolutely still, as calm as you like, for about ten minutes.

QR: but how about when these type of owners are handling from the ground???? Does their neurosis cause an anxious horse here too?
