A quick how much, on behalf of a friend..

Fantastic record!

If he were my horse i would get some BD and BSJA points/money over the winter and get a pro to do a couple of novices at the start of nest season before selling, if those go well I would say £25-£30K currently about £20k but with market as it is she may not get near that.

I agree with this.

Although it has a brilliant record, to be worth upwards of 20k I think she could really do with getting him out over the winter with a different rider to get some experience BSJA up to Newcomers or so, and then give him a couple of runs round Novices in the Spring. Hopefully he'd go double clear and then I think he'd easily be worth 25k or more as he'd prove he's got the scope to go up the levels.

Blimey, if you get takers at the upper end of the prices suggested on here send some my way for a 2* horse with a pretty damn good record too and not that much more expensive!

Re price, as someone else said, it depends what his limit's going to be - if he's got 4* written all over him and can canter down to a big fence and make nothing of it then possibley he's worth the higher end of what has been suggested. Maybe she should just ring a few of the people who've asked about him and ask what they'd give her. If it is a seriously nice horse you don't want a load of joy-riders trying it out.

I think some may be unwilling to pay big money for something which hasnt gone novice yet.
I'd value him at 15k.

Big money horses are selling but theyre high level horses- a friend just sold a decent 3* horse for 40k

i wouldnt pay over 16k for a horse that hasnt done novice, even though its record is fantastic.
but thats just my feelings!

it does look like a super horse though,,with hopefully a lot of potential!!!!

It's all about the potential as others have said. If it's a serious prospect I would involve an agent, they will work to get the best price as their commission is linked, and they have a feel for the current market. FWIW I have a friend who has a 6yo who is being viewed by a number of people for a six figure sum, however, he has 2012 written all over him and a record to match...

See exactly what you all mean... however i can't really answer any of the 'potential' questions, as i strangley haven't really ever seen him in action... I sometimes box up to use their arena and when i arrive there area huge fences in the school that the horse has been jumping.. but i've never seen him jump... people that have i think have been fairly impressed..

Anyway, thanks for everyones imput.. tis very interesting!!

OK, I am not an eventer, but I am going on what I see on paper. I know of fab RC horses that are capable of that record, and not one person on here would price them at £20k+! This really raises the *what price potential* question debate again, and I thought we were all in agreement before that buying a horse priced with *potential* is driving prices up to a ridiculous level.

On paper, as is, I would say he is worth no more than £12k and that is if he is easy, but I completely understand where the valuations are coming from as boy is he consistent!

If he were mine, I would get someone on him that will jump round some NC and Fox (to prove scope) at the very least, to maximise value. This is the only way to prove he has it in him, as I understand that you cannot just go out and jump round an Intermediate.

Oh dear, sorry

She's just chilling I think but will do some BSJA and hunting if she isn't sold.
