Teddy doggy has his booster jabs tomorrow, will he be ok to go to agility class on Tuesday? Or should we cancel? I always give Toto pony a day or two off after his jabs but are dogs the same?

Thanks

Teddy will let you know how he feels!

Some do seem a tad down after them, others not a difference!

I agree with k9h. See how he feels. My dog is no different after his boosters but some dogs need a day or two to get over it.

And most dogs don't actually need the boosters!

I would err on the side of caution with exertion after multi vaccinations, it is a big insult to the dogs immune system and you have no idea when the booster is given what infections your dog might be fighting at the time.

Basically you are giving the dog an inert form of several diseases at the same time and asking the immune system to drop everything and produce more antibodies against those diseases.

I had one of mine titre tested a few years ago, the vet was insisting that I give it a multi vaccination, but I had just got him out of a kennel for rehoming, I told the vet I was the customer and she would do the test or I would go elsewhere, when the results came back he was off the scale in antibodies for parvo, he had come into contact with it in the stressful situation in kennels. The lab report warned not to vaccinate at that time or vaccinosis would result!!!!!!!!!! Vet was VERY sorry!!!!! He still has sufficient antibodies for parvo 4 years later and does not need a booster, so please be careful.

Yes we were thinking about cancelling, the agility was aranged before the jabs, you see, so we didn't know he'd be having his jabs. We'll have to rearrange for Thurday or Friday
