I'm fed up of tack shops being rubbish.

I know I'm a 'larger lady', but it really shouldn't be this hard to find a decent show jacket to fit me.

I bought a hacking jacket about 6 months ago, and since have lost 2.5 stone. The jacket was a size 40 and drowns me now. So, off I toddle today to my local tack shop, and they have a whole array of childrens jackets, about 5 jackets in size 10 and nothing else!!!

It really annoys me.

And don't get me started on long boots for fat calves.

So if you're planning on starting up a tack shop, make sure you cover all sizes, and not just the skinnys

A very grumpy Psephologist.

why don't you look in the yellow pages for a tailor or some one who alters clothes and then you could get your jacket altered, cheaper than buying new

Actually I find problems with the opposite end o the scale... Being slim and tall a 32 jacket fits me perfectly excpt the sleeves dead short. In tack shops all they seem to have is the bigger sizes and nothing to fit me

I find buying long boots impossible so I have to buy boots and gaitors instead. Standard width boots are always baggy and nowhere seems to stock narrower sizes

I have to buy kids jods usually...

In defence of my local tack shop, they tend to only stock sizes 10-14... but only because the jackets on display are just for that, display, and the lady will order you in whatever size you need within the week. She is also very good at sizing and can tell you with just a look what size you'll need.

Ebay is fantastic for larger jacket sizes, people sell them on if they've lost weight and they're often pretty much still brand new.

We sell loads of clothing for big girls, in fact I've just kitted a lovely lady out today with tweed jacket, jods, shirt etc..... as she is showing her cob for the first time & nothing to wear. Don't despair, we are out there you know, I'm the other end of the country to you, but if you want to check out our website, then pm me

Where I work it's not the shop, but the companies that cause that...particularly a few who make boots for inhuman women.

Just wanted to say well done on losing so much weight! Hope you find a nice jacket to treat yourself to.
I am also of the stubby legged fat calved persuasion and find Mountain Horse boots very comfortable.
