Adjusting my sails
I don't often get annoyed enough to post about annoying things, or in this case Person, but here goes ...
There's a woman locally who uses my arena about once a week to do flatwork. If she wants to jump, she begrudgingly pays me to teach her, as I won't let her jump unsupervised.
I don't charge her if she just comes to do flatwork by herself, and occasionally she brings me a bottle of wine as a thank you (usually timing it for when she has really annoyed me!)
On Sunday I harrowed the school and set it up as a 20x40 with boards and markers, and built a minimus course of fences in the other bit for my little boys to ride round (think six fences around 9" high).
This woman turned up Sunday night to ride, and spent 45 mins systematically riding on every bit of the arena, including around and over all the little jumps. Her horse has big feet and drags its hinds, so makes a huge mess at the best of times. A few weeks ago she was cross with me for not letting her ride the night before I had a clinic here, and had already prepped the arena.
Our pony is only 11.2 with tiny feet, and would disappear down these holes, so I have spent a large part of the afternoon with a rake (can't get the harrows close enough) flattening the take offs and landings, and levelling the rest of the school.
And picking up her horse's poo
She has just texted to say she wants to come back tonight, so I texted back to say yes by all means, but please would she stay on the "dressage" part and pick up her poo afterwards.
But crikey, I shouldn't have to ask, surely?
To my mind, she is either totally thoughtless, or completely taking the mickey. And sadly I can't afford to fall out with her, because the horsey world around here is rather close knit.
But I am cross
Although I feel better now, thank you!
