A refreshing change to the anti-yard owner threads!!

I have just moved yards. I have never been on a 'proper' livery yard before, I was a bit scared! Everyone is lovely :) everyone keeps themselves to themselves. If your horse cannot be left in the stable block/field alone you write their name on the board and the YO ensures there is always something else or horse is brought in etc...

I haven't yet been able to bring all my stuff to the yard so my water was in an old tub trug for now. My stupid horse kicked it over whilst I wasn't there the YO took all the wet straw out, swept it and refilled it and put it in another position so he could snog his neighbour! The second day he knocked it over again and bust it! The YO went and found me another container, filled it with three bricks so he couldn't knock it over again!

Yesterday I was running a bit late to bring him in, got there and he was in his stable happily chomping on a haynet. YO said she'd brought him in with the others and given a bit of haylage to keep him going :)

She also offered to come pick all my feed bins etc up from my house as I don't have a car at the moment, and best of all entertains my 1 year old Daughter with chocolate biscuits whilst I muck out :D

I am so happy, my horse is very happy and relaxed and I feel privileged to be part of such a nice yard. The YO clearly cares a lot about her liveries and tries her best to make sure everyone is happy :)

I don't usually create such threads... but in this case I thought it needed saying :)
 
Your new yard and YO sound absolutely brilliant! It's nice to know when you go to your horse that there's a friendly atmosphere and the people there are genuinely nice - makes your time there much less stressful and more enjoyable :)
 
It really is nice :) Livery yards get a lot of bad press, it's nice to hear that lots of you are happy in your yards too! Horses are to expensive/time consuming to not enjoy being around! Now ... roll on summer!!!!! :-D:cool:
 
I love my yard too -the yard owners are brilliant and nothing is too much fuss. They've even helped me my old boy who I moved away to keep my foal company. If only they allowed foals I would have all three of them in the same place.
 
Posts like these are so refreshing....I'm also really lucky to be a fabulous yard, I had a horrible accident almost a year ago, resulting in air ambulance.....que the biggest crisis of confidence I have ever experienced...I never thought I'd ever get in the saddle again.....my poor horse was a nervous wreck aswell...my YO has worked tirelessly (sp) with us both, re-backing my poor baby, giving me lessons on her horses.....in July this year, she reintroduced us (so to speak) and has continued to work her magic with us!! I owe her such a lot and I know for a fact would not have recieved half the support on any of the other yards in our area. The other liveries have also been fantastic and supportive!! BIG GRINS...and today, for the first time, I rode him again at the scene of the accident!!! (sorry to hi-jak OP I just feel so pleased that I haven't stopped grinning yet!!!!) :D
 
I used to have a great YO, I have been considering going back there just cause of the people there :) its the only yard I've been to-and-fro for years but never cause I didn't like it :)
 
I am really pleased you have found a super yard, I must admit I love my yard, no school or anything fancy but I get peace and quiet to spend time with my boys & occasionally have a cuppa with other liveries :)

Don't apologise! Thanks for sharing :) glad your both on the mend and able to enjoy one another again!

this! We don't have a school either. Just a flat meadow we are allowed to ride in in Summer :) It's nice just seeing my horse happy and relaxed too!
 
That's lovely :) I've had the 2 extremes! One yard owner was awful, obnoxious, rude etc etc etc. current yard owner lovely, will do any thing for you! Real old sort and down to earth, takes no prisoners, horses come first type.
 
We have also moved to a new yard just a month ago, new YO is absolutely fab, nothing is too much trouble, everything is so organised and there is a proper set of really sensible rules (more common sense really). Her OH even reverses my trailer for me if I need it (still getting to grips with this bit of trailer driving - had a lorry before), everyone on the yard is so friendly and helpful. Our horse has never been so chilled and my daughter hasn't stopped smiling. Such a change from her coming back from our old yard either really angry or in tears.

Huge round of applause for those really good YO and YM out there.
 
I have just moved to my first ever livery yard after always having horses at home

I love it! The YO is fantastic, Java is very quirky and he can be a pain to turnout but she is always on hand to help, the people I have met so far are lovely and I'm really enjoying it !
 
I have a fab yard owner as well. When I was looking for the horse that I have now, I saw a picture of him on a local website and asked her if she knew the owner. She said that she did and a few days later (without me knowing about it) she arranged for the horse to come to our yard so I could have a 2 week trial! She even picked him up for me when I was at work. After riding him for just a few days I knew he was the horse for me so I bought him.
We are just a small yard and she is very supportive with all of us.

It's good to know other people are happy on there yards as well. We hear too many negatives, it's nice to have such a positive thread!

I love my place too...:D

It's really basic nuts n' bolts DIY but the other three liveries are lovely and the place is like a 2nd home... Roll on the better weather when we can sling some munchies in a bag and find something to do up there for hours on end...:)
 
Me too. I moved yards 4 weeks ago & couldn't be happier with the yard:D. Horsey so settled and happy Yard owner has given me free lessons and loads of advice. Other liveries are lovely. Don't think we will move again.
 
My new yard is also fantastic! It's the first professional yard I've been on, and it is a breath of fresh air to me! My horse is really happy and excellently cared for, and YO is happy to help and advise me on anything at all.
 
I love my yard. YO totally non horsey - can just about tell one end from the other, thinks they all behave like cows (as in, shove them all in together and they'll be fine) but he takes advice from people more knowledgable than himself, and is really easy going, broke the ice in the troughs when we couldn't get down in all the bad weather, lets those in the bigger fields (which won't get so poached) be out 24/7 even in the winter, and supplies v good quality hay, haylege and straw which is all genuinely unlimited.

I can't fault him, he's easy to deal with as long as you know how to approach him properly - plant the seed, let him think its his idea! Same as any man really!
