Just as a quick update really! As you know, madam has had various problems which hopefully we have got to the bottom of, and so hasn't seen a fence for about 5 months, which at the time resulted in massive temper tantrums and not wnting to go anywhere near said fence, and ended up with me on the floor when I tried to force the matter...it was the start of knowing something wasn't right as that was SO out of character for her!

So, after a couple of months of remedial work, and a steady return back to work, I put some teeny tiny fences up last week to see how she was feeling. She has certainly been bouncing recently, so i was hoping her enthusiasm for poles would have been renewed now her feet no longer hurt!

Well, she didn't disappoint, and we had copious amounts of bucking, squeaking and charging at the fences...needless to say I was :D

I have tried to upload the vids, but have failed so far, so here are some not so exciting pics. :)

How do you think she looks? :) Se has since refrained from misbehaving under saddle, so I think she appreciates being back in what she considers "full" work... the flatwork/hacking/lunging regime was not good enough for her ;)

She looks really good! Lovely condition and very happy to be jumping again :) :). She's quite beefy now isn't she, really filled out!

Firewell, thanks! She isn't as "chunky" as she can look, but is a good MW/W in saddles as she is very round! Can look very TB though :p

alwaysbroke, thanks, me too. Hopefully see youb out and about where I wont be ranting ;)

measles, thank you :)

HM12, I watched the vid and she loves the "long ones"...never feels like it though!! Yes look forward to seeing you out :)

Scarlett, she has done a lot of the "naughty" category too!!

Holidays, there is definitely a similarity... ;)

TF, yes hopefully... see you at Arena?! :)

great to see her up in the air again! :D she looks very well! she looks like she has filled out nicely too? or is that my imagination? looks much stronger/more muscley! :)

best of luck for 2013 Kat! Hopefully see you out and about! :)

Foxford, thanks. She has no shoes behind, and egg bars infront which are "twisted" to support the foot and also change the break over point to put less pressure on her leg/foot structure. :) They've made a big difference!

Ali, it is nice when they're enthusiastic! Is Morris man all mended now?

MB, thank you :) yes, planning on getting out SJ asap, and then will see...but yes, planning on getting back out competing :)

CBA, thank you, that's very kind! She is not the easiest, but is very rewarding :D

Chloe, thank you...we need an update from you purlease?! x

MM, she has actually lost a lot of weight (strict diet!) but is well toned, so think her topline is just more defined now?!

Xmas beastie, thanks!

Cobbyhoofs, she was having great fun :D

LJR, thanks, I like that "shot" too, she is very active behind now :D

DD, thanks hows your mare?

Got a short vid clip uploaded now too :) Not hugely interesting, but quite pingy!!

What a lovely thread.

I bought my mare as a burnt out SJ as you couldn't get her near a jump and even the school freaked her out! I'm sure she had pain everywhere(feet, back, teeth, poll,)as soon as we got it sorted and she chilled her out with all the hacking she became the same as your girl now and full of confidence! Great to see them happy isn't it, but by jove a real shock for an old lady like me!!

So pleased for you and her:)

She looks lovely. Can't watch the video tho. Says it's private :( What was the matter with her feet out of interest. Sorry, I have probably missed a whole back story. My boy also had some foot issues so I'm always interested in success stories!

Elsbells, that's lovely! So pleased your mare is full of the joys again!! :D It took me a bit of time to work out what was wrong, as it was so so subtle, but I just knew she wasn;t right...hopefully it's paid off!!

Ilovefoals, I've changed the vid settings now so should be able to see it :) She had imbalance in her front feet which was only diagnosed through MRI. It was very subtle, but causing the coffin joint cartiledge (sp!) to remodel, and would have caused arthritis untreated... she is now in eggbars set at an angle to reduce the pressure on certain areas of her foot and get her to use the foot "straight" for her leg... so far so good :)

rara007, she is a fan of anything that's not dressage ;)

Thanks that's really interesting. My boy showed foot balance changes on xray after a really deep abcess that took ages to drain. Currently we have taken off his shoes and are trimming every 5 weeks to gradually encourage him to start walking much more level as he has been walking on the outside of his foot causing pressure where there shouldn't be any. He's having a little holiday meantime so when he comes back into work, hopefully in feb, I hope to see a difference.

My girl had terrible feet as well as horrific behaviour, they didn't look bad on the outside although one was bigger than the other slightly!? If the feet hurt them, like us they'll move differently to accommodate the pain. This can then affect the back as they twist and of course the poll, so they end up with a whole number of different ailments stemming totally from the feet.

I went on gut feeling alone, no tests and against all advise removed her shoes and turned her away on Dr Green and plenty of TLC, she was so angry and frightened.

There is a lot of truth in "no foot, no horse".
