Since Christmas the old boy has been kept running with tablets, however this is no longer possible as we feel we are comprismising the welfare him.

Vet is going to come out later today to put him to sleep.

He is my OH's dog, my OH is devastated

but he knows he is doing the right thing.

Its a year ago we lost our Murph.
Its never easy saying goodbye, even tho its the right thing, its hard to make the decision.

Huge hugs to you and OH and big sloppy kisses to Murph.

, you must both be very sad although it probably is best for Murphy, like you said.
We've just had our dog pts as it was also the best for her (sniffs) but it is still very hard to come to terms with.

Wow......he looks a real golden oldie....you have done so well having a mastiff at this late stage in life....looks like a gentle giant.

So strange only having one mutt around the house at the weekend we are going to get a nice plant to remember him by. I am also going to treat my OH to a PapaFrita picture of Murph.

The vet said she hadnt seen many big dogs live to such an age - we reckoned he was around 11-12 maybe.

11-12 is a wondeful age - most larger dogs have a life span of 8-10yrs.
