I just wanted to share this sad story with a happy ending. In addition to 2 spaniels I also have 2 labs, a young bitch and a fully health tested award winning dog who I use at stud. On Wednesday I was contacted by the owner of one of his pups asking if I knew anyone looking for a young lab as she needed to re-home hers. I didn't judge just pointed her in the direction of some breed rescues and offered to put a post on the Facebook group for my stud dog. Owner then told me that she had breast cancer and felt unable to cope with a young boisterous dog. Almost immediately the owner of a litter sibling (who I've met a few times) messaged me to say that she would have him. I put the two ladies in touch. Dogs met today and he's gone for a trial weekend. There have been lots of tears both happy and sad. Adopters had just started looking for another dog so not a total shock. I always try to support puppy owners, even though I didn't breed the pup's, or make much money from them.

Pic is of the two brothers

All going well so far

What a happy ending for the dog but very sad for his previous owner. I hope she makes a full recovery.
One of my males sired a litter four years ago and I feel as responsible for them as the actual breeder. Two are already in the police so when another male was proving too much of a handful for his busy owners (both paramedics) I organised for him to have a trial with the police. They took him and he was a number of weeks into an initial course and doing extremely well when the previous owners decided they couldn’t live without him and so asked for him back. Such a shame for the dog really. Thankfully all others are happy and settled but the owners know they can contact the breeder or myself at any time in future if they can no longer keep their dog.
