:D I have now had the pleasure of riding Teddy in the saddle he was sent with. We think, no, know, he needs a new one. Any advice on the best places to look for a seat for the new sofa? Sorry mean saddle for new horse? (Cheap ..................... and for a short, strange back) Please.

Try having one made to measure by the Saddle Company. I don't think it would cost more than £600.
My Westphalian brought her 2nd-hand saddle with her, which she had had fitted less than a year before but unfortunately I can't find the make on it, as I think it would probably fit Teddy - she is built like a large Ardennes. Maybe you could find one 2nd-hand, my guess is it would be cheap as there's not much call for such a big saddle.

Good luck on the cheap front if he's that flat and wide - you might find a synthetic to fit - I'd start with the Thorowgood cob. I work for Native Pony and obviously we specialise in fitting the wide loads :D - you might pick something up second hand and I'm hapy to advise, with pictures of the horse etc. Other options might include the H&C tree from Ideal and the Haflinger tree from GFS.

I don't think he's that wide, wife has a different opinion, I will post some pics tomorrow to see what people think.

I saw the photo earlier in the week. He does look to be a very similar shape to mine. Her saddle is extra wide. All you can do IMO is to try a variety of saddles and see which fits.
