Meh! why do some people do this?

My yearling shares a field with a 2 yr old. The owners of said 2 year old are off to a show Wed- Friday this week so have asked me to keep an eye on and do the poo in the field. Not a problem - I am more than happy to do this.

But - I cleaned the field Sat, Sunday and Monday.
I left it on Tuesday thinking that they would do it before they left.

But on Wednesday I arrive to find they have left me a field full of sh!t to clean up. Despite the fact that I have to do it for the rest of the week anyway.

I am SO not impressed. Why do some people take the p!ss with this sort of thing.

Petty I know, but just had to get that one off my chest!

My friend has EXACTLY the same problem, except the other owner is now pregnant and won't do any chores at all now. Instead of doing her days now, she just leaves it until she can make her OH do it, but my friend does it in the interim...
 
Certain people on our yard don't always seem to pull their weight.....it drives OH mad, I'm not best pleased but I still pick up their slack because otherwise its my horses wandering around knee deep in poo.

Pain in the but....and I think they are being very disrespectful also.

I'd be very irritated by that! I have two horses in different paddocks - one is on his own soo that's fine, but the other shares a paddock with YO's Mum's pony. YO's mum has probably picked up6 barrows of poo this year.....I do a barrow every other day unless she happens to do it (which is always the day after I've done it!).

pregnancy isnt a excuse tbh ive had 2 kids (1 on way) and i do my own ok poo picking is hard heavy pregnant but you get buy takes 2-3 hours longer like but hey, tell them you have done it for week and they need to do it for week as you dont have time next week. yes its give inch take mile! hate people like that im having to poo pick field where horse before was in it a month and no poo was picked up.

Trouble is I HATE seeing the field dirty.

But I will have to say something now and I hate there being an atmosphere. THey are nice people, but taking advantage.

What makes it worse is that there are two of them (mum and daughter) and there is only one of me!

just drop a comment in when they get back from the show about how you are looking forward to a week of poo picking and see if they get the hint...

thing is people see it as a chore i see it as keeping field maintained and not having my horse eating round his own poo, read some where they do 8 sh*ts a day
 
Grrr, this would really annoy me too! I have a policy now at my yard whereby if you don't poo pick your fields, you get charged for someone else to do it at £10 per hour. Funnily enough it seems to work, although we do have one lazy one who would rather pay £10 per hour than do it herself.

The best thing would probably be to say nicely that they can do it all of next week when they're back, but probably not much else you can do without rocking the boat.
 
I spent all winter skipping out the shared yard which had 5 horses in it - they had 24 hour access to a sheep shed and ring feeders with hay so it got dirty pretty quickly. One of the 5 horses was mine - I think of the other 5 only one owner did any skipping and it was few and far between. as a result I'm stabling mine this winter!
 
get them to do it all of next week instead, to be fair if i was going to a show for 3 days poo picking wouldn't be high on my agenda for the day before. next time it might be an idea to say something before they go ie i'll do it while you're away if you do it .......
