If I see a snail/worm/caterpillar in the middle of a footpath or quite road I move them to safety, as does OH. One of the reasons I love him!

A friend of mine was once cycling along a lane when he saw a goldfinch get hit by a carHe stopped and picked the liitle body up. It was still warm but lifeless and the plumage was stunning. My friend was involved in all sorts of crafts, and thought he could use the bird's feathers for something. So he gently popped the dead bird into his jacket pocket.
LOL! Great story

I confess I opened the thread to see if you really meant little death or something else!

I witnessed something almost identical outside our yard the other day. A grey squirrel had obviously just been hit and as it was next to the drive to the yard. I drove around him and left the car in the drive, got out and was about to try and move him so he didn't get run over again as he was still definitely alive but a car drove straight over him.
In a way I suppose at least it put him out of his misery but it was so sad to watch.
