My chuffed mother post won't be a touch on Tabledancer's but here it is! Last weekend we took B and his 11.2hh pony to an agricultural show to do a couple of flat classes, something I have been meaning to get around to but never quite managing. The pony was successful in his previous homes in the show ring but aside from one lead rein outing this was their first foray into the ring together.
They went well
and ended up winning both classes
. Check out the grin!
and then Champion!
Mini son was over the moon and the pony had a fantastic rest of the day out munching hay on the lorry
It just goes to show how quickly things can turn though as A had a bad fall in the lorry park a few hours later and, off paying entries, I got the call that everyone dreads saying there had been an accident and he was hurt. The paramedics got there quickly and thankfully he was fine. I think he was saved by his mare, Saffy, who was spooked by something blowing suddenly from between a lorry and a trailer and lost her footing and went over
She ended up caught against the trailer on her side with cuts to her forelegs and neck but kept herself off A. Thankfully she will only have a few small scars and is fine but she was a good friend that day.
There was no rest for the recently almost squashed and the next day we had a PC rally with Barney the Ghareeb boy who has evented
who we also took xc schooling last week and A had a ball with him in the pouring rain..
They even got to meet some bears!
Don't they both look delighted to be getting even more wet?
This week has been the busiest of the week at work - the horses are my hobby
- and A has two new irish additions to the yard to produce. Harry is a 16.1hh 5yo by VDL Cancun (Corland) out of a Cruise On (Cruising) mare. I bought him last autumn unbroken and he has been very well produced for me since then, and these pictures were taken the day he arrived this week
And this is our new almost 15hh 4yo connemara girl Zoe who is by Sillogue Supreme, a full brother to Irish European SJ team pony Sillogue Darkie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6pX-7xOo-g) She is unbroken but under my supervision A is going to break her this summer along with his much smaller and lighter girlfriend unless she - Zoe not his girlfriend - is sold before that.
All in all a busy few weeks with ups and downs. More ups and downs on Saturday as we head off to Ireland again. You'd think I wouldn't need travel sickness tablets to fly by this time....!
