A Soggy, Soapy, Sicknote Shelford *with vids*

Somehow I missed this. Probably something to do with getting back from Aston le Walls at 10pm on Monday, getting up at 6am to be on the road at 7am to drive 3 hours, survey for 5 hours and get home at 8pm, write reports till 1am then up again and on the road this morning at 7.30 to get to a course I guess  Anyway, apologies for the tardiness and the rubbish excuse (I should be working now on another report, but hey, priorities and all that!).

The boys sound fabulous, and placings all round is surely a good thing? I dunno how you keep it up myself, I am exhausted after doing dressage with one on Sunday and eventing the other on Monday!

Haven't watched the vids as at work and about to shoot off to see vet for C soon, but as always you are an inspiration - lots of positives, especially when the weather 'was' and you 'were' feeling crap. Frillies too so all good, pass on the builders tea (yuk) and no muesli as I have a sick feeling at the mo :) Good luck at Little D :D

Oh, hope you got a good result today, I've not seen anything on FB yet?

I was pleased with how they went, just a tweak needed on Marty's bitting and I'll be really happy with how they're going. :)

Congratulations. I don't post very much but love reading your reports. You really are an inspiration most people would sit around feeling sorry for themselves not be competing in the rain and doing well. Hope your treatment is soon over and you are back to full health. How is Jup?

Thanks, tiggs, I'm glad you enjoy them. :) I have been sat around most of the day today - in hospital  - but Jup and I had an early morning hack and whilst he's feeling tight in his back he still managed to spook and bounce around for an hour.

I love Marty- he always looks like he's trying hard- he's got one of these eager faces (which must be mildly galling when he isn't!).

2 rosettes with 2 DCs is brilliant, and I like the frothing saddle effect- we'll try it on Reg as a potential distraction for the judge!

He does have a very sweet, pony-like face; if he was a dog he'd be a Labrador. ;)

My foamy knees needed to be more foamy next time, although I'd rather it wasn't raining tbh.

Very well done N! I simply do not know where you find your energy from, it's phenomenally impressive! :D Really hope Jup picks up pronto and is back to his cheeky self asap :) where are you off to next?

Thanks, H, I was feeling tons better on Monday than I was on Friday, even in that weather. I've got a fairly quiet month, the Cheeky Boys aren't out until Milton Keynes but Marty is at Lt Downham and then Catton. Jup is being seen by the osteo on Monday so it's no drama if he doesn't jump for a week or two, I'm just keeping him ticking over in the meantime so he doesn't get too fat. :p

Fabulous report, love the vids, all looking great. Am very much in awe of you. I don't know how you do it. I'm sure I'd be curled up under the bed covers feeling sorry for myself.

Thank you, BeckyD, I've had some early nights lately and lots of power nap so that's kinda curling up under the bed covers, isn't it? ;)

Fab report - love the soapy knees!!

I agree that the GP must be a bit showjumperish as I thought it looked quite fun! and I agree with Measles - showjumping often gets moved indoors in rain ;) we all melt you see!

What fab results, especially when you weren't feeling on top form. Hope you are feeling better now. :)

Thanks, FigJam, I seem to have picked up today, typical when I've been in hospital all day with them investigating some suspicious chest pains I had post-Herceptin. Maybe I'm suffering from Munchausen Syndrome and am just doing all this to get attention? ;)

What size was the GP? It looked quite decent .
As for Shelford: two horses, two rosettes, no unscheduled CO2 usage. What more could you want. Job done!

Is Jooooop off Bramham then? I can't believe that he'd skive that one, the big fairy .

The GP started off at 1.10m but some were 1.15m near the end.

When I get home the first thing OH asks me is whether I've fallen off?!

Yep, Joooopiter is off games, so no need to dodge any huge craters in your BYEH arena. :p

Really entertaining report and very well done. I admire those who can keep enthusaism for competing when out in the rain. Perhaps that's why we SJ and every time it rains it is moved back indoors...

Thanks, measles, I can see the appeal of BS after my day on Monday. ;)

I'm surprised you manage to remember that course at Houghton if you were feeling dodge, I'm dizzy just from the video! Boys all sound very good. Are you aiming for Osberton 1* with them?

I had to concentrate really hard to remember it all, but then I'm still struggling with days of the week at the moment. I'd like to go to Osberton if they're up to it, but we'll see.

Well done for your two placings! Sorry I didn't hang around to say hi - was totally drowned and just wanted to get home. Clever boys!

The Houghton vid was fab - how on earth did you remember the course? :D

Hope your feeling better.....
X

Thanks, ISZ but don't worry, I guessed you'd have gone home to get dry. We'll catch up another day. :)

You're a stubborn bu**er aren't you? The harder it gets the harder you push yourself. Very well done and both horses are looking as fit and well as fit well things :D.
I enjoyed the GP vid (except the close up of moving grass made me go cross-eyed) and I do wonder how you remember what to jump next - it's a showjumpers competition really as far as I can see.

See you at LD with a bit of luck but Frodo is on early so if we do pants we'll probably vanish asap :(

Stubborn-ish, yes. ;)

I thought SuperFran did a good job of getting both arenas in....and the grass inbetween. :p

Wow, if you can do all of this not feeling well, you will be flying when firing on all cylinders:)
Horses look fab as alwyas, hope Jups is back to his normal cheeky self asap.

If it hadn't have been quite so wet I would have come across to watch, but would have had Mini D_K in tow, who doesn't do standing around in the rain, so had a day of watching DVD's with him instead, got a bit fed up with Animals United the 3rd time round:rolleyes:

Thanks, ab, it wasn't a great day for spectating so I think you were better off with a comfy sofa and Animals United. ;)

See I couldn't do all that you do so it must be horses for courses. ;) Fab result for you at Aston btw, I've not got round to commenting on everyone else's reports yet (me me me :p).

Fab report - love the soapy knees!!

I did lol when I glanced down and saw my knees covered in foam! :D

The GP was fun, but months of Lionel training me means it feels plain wrong to gallop to a showjump. :p

Cal looks super in the GP :), another fab outing all round, well done! Fingers crossed Jup is back on top form soon :)

Wow Baydale - Cal looked AMAZING in the GP. His confidence just seems to be bursting out of him. Brilliant. And well done on the DCs and frillies too. Hope Jup is back to his cheeky self soon.

Well done Mrs, 2 DC's is pretty good going ;) and The Eventers GP thingy looked like LOADS of fun ;) Cal looks AWESOME, you know where to send him if you get bored of him ;) :p

Hopefully catch up with you soon :)
