a special person question re 3 ring gags

If I use a 3 ring gag with a single rein on the snaffle ring would it have the same action as a baucher/hanging cheek?

usually a hanging cheek is a fixed bit rather than a loose ring on most 3-ring "gags" so no not technically if that is the case.

very good point. Had completely forgotten that gags are loose ringed! Dur. Didn't even think about that.

This is what being on holiday does for me, turns my brain to mush!

Well, everyday is mushy but I can usually tell the difference between loose rings and fixed cheeks!! That is a special level of mush!
