On my way to the yard the other morning i came across a dog running in the main road of the village, I nearly clipped them as they ran straight at my vehicle . Stopped the car , whacked hazards on and followed pooch for a bit to see if they ran towards any gates/ houses. But they just keep going back to the main road, luckily this was very early on a Sunday morning so 'normal 😆' people were still in bed.

Little dog wouldn't come near me, wagging tail, low to ground very nervous but seemed nice enough... so i opened the boot and stepped back and they hopped straight in. Once in the car they were incredibly friendly, completely soaked so i assumed out all night in the torrential rain we had , suspected maybe a fireworks fright victim.

Posted on the villages Facebook page and took them with me to the yard whilst i did the horses , yard had a spare kennel so popped dog in there with a bowl of water and a deep straw bed, we contacted a local charity volunteer who came out to scan the dog, by this point someone had messaged me on facebook to say 'its mine, where can i get it'.

To cut a long story short and keep it all a bit vague .... Microchip scanned as stolen, poor dog had been taken from the other end of the country !
Person messaging was the person whom had stolen her !!

Charity lady gave him her number and delt with it, he quickly backed off when police where involved and dogs real owners provided all proof that they did in fact own the little dog.

I blocked the dog thief and my facebook is set to private so im not worried about the implications of getting involved, but so incredibly happy for little dog and the real owners who were over the moon.

So wonderful, Imagine getting that phone call. How long ago had the dog been stolen? Did you get to see the reunion? Just think, if she/he had never escaped the real family would have been wondering for ever more :(
Long enough for them to think they wouldn't see little dog again ! Sorry again keeping it a bit vague due to police being involved .

It's very scary despite living next door to the village and asking a friend who lives at the village in question ( friend is a pet sitter !!) Didn't recognise little dog at all. It appears they were kept inside constantly and used as a money making spin (breeding ) .

Oh that's so sad, poor little dog but it's just wonderful that you were able to reunite them all. Thank you for posting - I had never thought to check a dog's chip in the circumstances you describe. Lesson learned for the future!

That is brilliant. Thank goodness the thieving gits didn't get it back 😊👍

I used to find dogs, haven't for years, but always left them at my vets. Putting it on Facebook is all very well, but it is a legal requirement to report to dog warden and if an owner is searching for their dog, exactly which Facebook page do they look on. There are about 15 where I live. And then I have noticed sometimes several people claim it's their dog ... 🙄
