A Tad Confused .. Insurance, Making A Claim

Hi, some of you know already about Ethel being at the vets, she had a cut on her hock leaking joint fluid so was taken in yesterday to have it checked and she stayed there last night and will be staying tonight. Now, with the insurance, I rang them and they said they'd send a claim form to me to fill out and send back with the invoice form the vet. When my vet rang me to give me an update of how she was, they said that I need to fill out a disclaimer for them to send to the insurance company with the claim form .. so now I'm confused! Can anyone shed a bit of light on this to make my small brain work it all out :o Ta!
 
a disclaimer? No idea what she meant. Maybe call her back and ask what she was talking about?

Normally insurance co send you form. You fill out your bit. Give it to your vet to fill out their bit. Then you usually need them to give you a print out of your horses entire medical history, then send that, the claim form and the invoices to date back to insurance company.
 
I'm sure thats what she said .. but she also said she'd email it to me straight away (about half 10 this morning) and I still haven't had the email lol. I'll probably ask them tomorrow before I bring her home, although I'm not sure whether to ring them today and ask what treatment she'll need once shes back (box rest etc) or if they'll tell me tomorrow. I've been so worried since yesterday when she was injured that now is the only time I've really thought about it all!
 
I think I know what they want. I recently lost my horse, it was a rush job to get her to the hospital and there was a big bill. I could have paid it, but it would have been a squeeze. The hospital wanted me to sign a waiver that said they could deal directly with the insurance company so they would pay them direct, rather than me pay the vet first and then claim from the insurance company.

If you have any doubts, ask the vet what the form is for - you should never sign anything without having it explained first.
 
ahh... maybe that's it...

I've always paid my vets direct and claimed the money. (I like my bills to be settled immediately and I know the delays there can be with insurance companies)
 
Oh okay I think that might be what it is then. I signed a form for her to be kept there last night and there was a section on there about insurance, they did explain it to me but I was so worried (I'm probably the biggest worrier ever!) that I signed it although I didn't quite understand it, but by the sounds of it that is what they are planning to do :)
