Thank you everyone for all of the lovely messages about Alfie - I've been blown away by your kindness!

I was wondering if anybody knew if there was a charity dedicated to researching Navicular (as there is with Laminitis?) I haven't been able to find anything at all for Navicular and would be interested in setting one up, in memory of Alfie - if anybody could possibly help me do so that would be great?!

I'm so sorry again for your loss. I hope you're holding up okay?

I don't believe there is anything specific to navicular but it night be worth reaching out to the RVC as they may know of something as they do a lot of research.

A friend donated her horse to somewhere as he was pts because of canker but I'm not sure of the details or if they also had a charity set up for research.

I'm sorry I can't help you any more than this x

Thank you both, yes I am doing ok... hardest bit is when I am mucking out the others and I realise he is not there and won't be coming back. Then end up crying at random times - I put his rugs away today and that set me off. ? I have to be strong for my other boy though (his best friend of 13 years) as he needs me more than ever at the moment. He is definitely feeling it as he is a bit quiet. Alfie was my youngest horse (17). My other two are 21 (my spotty boy) and 29 (my mare). You never expect to lose the youngest first but I guess you can never tell what will happen. ?

Also, I have to go to a funeral tomorrow so I won't be in a fit state after that!

Horses break out hearts, then heal them. And the cycle goes on.

It is so hard. Today is the anniversary of my daughter losing her pony of a lifetime. The sadness never leaves you, it's the worst of the worst.

It's the ones you don't expect it to happen to, or the sudden thing that has gone wrong, but it's always a huge shock nonetheless.

Stay strong for your girl and spotty boy.

I hope you can take strength from the many well wishers here x
