A third dog.... your views please?

We have 6 - and I can honestly say the jump from 2-3 and 3-4 and 4-5 really made not much difference at all in our house! Although we moved to the countryside with land on the 5th dog - the 6th however we have noticed! Going back to rescues, that demand attention, instead of nice pedigree collies (numbers 4 and 5) that just like to hold their toys! hehe!!

I think waiting 'til the summer sounds like a plan - then at least you know if you are still thinking about it then you aren't rushing into it

Knowing that we have twelve is no help to you is it?!
I sometimes think it's far too many but they all have a claim to living here, there's not one I would 'kick out' but the funny thing is that if, any time, there are only a few indoors, then I am lost and the house looks much bigger; then the others come in and it's back to normal fighting for a chair. Wouldn't change it for the world but I do agree about letting the new one settle in for a few months before you take the plunge again as she's just getting her feet under the table and then would have to fight her corner once again to keep her place; think that would be a bit unfair..

Thanks MFH I think you are right - my enthusiasm for a particular brindle and white dog who would suit me down to the ground, who is in my local kennels waiting for a home at the moment, rather overwhelmed me

Little Flick needs time to get over her seperation anxiety and settle in, then she and Islay can gain a new friend

Incidentally my mum has around 12 dogs at the moment, which is why I find it SO ironic when she tells me I dont want another one
