A Titchy update - may make you emotional!

Well a picture paints a thousand words, so a video must paint more:

(On iPad or iPhone if it won't play, click the three horizontal lines menu icon, across to the bottom of the menu, click desktop, voila!)

Worked on my iPad, that's been so frustrating when I can't watch videos. great tip..thanks

lovely pony, great hacking too
:p

What a wonderful way to start the morning watching that video, they look so incredibly happy! Am 'digging' the maxi numnah on the mini pony... Looks more like a rug :p:D:D

Awww - both adorable. And your hacking is fab. Don't know if it's possible to rise to the trot on a Titchy until her little legs strengthen up and even then.. Unless she does 2 or 3 beats up and 2/3 beats down to start off with.

I thought that too and then tried sitting for two and rising for two myself and its not very easy!! I think like you say her legs need to strengthen up too.

Boo can't see it on my tab.

Can't quote on here but nope no horizontal lines anywhere :(

Sorry to the folk who can't see it :(. Can you normally see YouTube vids?

You have a dear little girl and a dear little pony, sweet:)

Thanks. I am really proud of her and amazed at how fast she is learning!

That is a brill vid, the pair of them are doing so well :) I learnt to ride at the age of 7 and was a very small child for my age, I rode a little shetland and can remember that trotting was similar to watching my mums sewing machine :D I doubt of mini FW will manage to rise for a while yet!

Hehe thanks Yorks :D

loved this, and the music choice, lovely!

Thanks, I like the music too :)

Gorgeous as always. Notemotional at all, eys watering cos I am tired!<koff>

If you could get her stirrups down a hole she might find trot easier. ATM the saddle is floating on pony and daughter is floating on the saddle. She needs to be sitting in the saddle and not on it, if that makes sense. I imagine rising trot must be very hard with his little legs going nineteen to the dozen, but it would make his life more comfortable if she could manage it for a short while.

I dont often click on vid links as computer hates them, but I always have to click on Titchy links xx

That's funny as her instructor put them up a hole as she was reaching for them in trot. I don't think the saddle is helping cue more expense...!

Ahh! So lovely to watch - my daughter used to sing nursery rhymes when she was riding at that age and I love your choice of music.

Ha she is scarily cocky and is singing/chatting constantly! She is at least multitasking and steering at the same time now!

I can't watch it on my ipad - it says content not available on this platform

:(

Sorry don't know what else to suggest if the three lines thing doesn't work :o

Have you tried a pad saddle rather than a cub? The cub saddle tends to send their weight back slightly (into a sort of chair position), making it harder to rise, a pad saddle doesn't, it will fit the pony better soon, I'm getting rid of my cub saddle as soon as daughter is 3 ( she is only 2 atm and still needs the safety/secureness of it, but at 3 pad saddle all the way. The suede ones are grippy and still has a handle and your daughter has good balance

No but I think you are quite right and now I've decided she needs a Zoe snape saddle pad at 180 squids  anyone got a cheaper or second hand suggestion?

Thank god it worked for someone!!:D

Thanks. That is actually a Shetland numnah :o:D

FW, what a lovely video, Titchy is one in a million and your daughter will treasure these memories always.

I'm very envious of your hacking :)

What a poppet he is, doesn't even try to snatch the grass! Rising at sewing machine speed isn't easy, try telling her it's uncomfortable for Titchy to be bounced on all the time and she might try harder? Brave little girl, they make a lovely combination and nice to see the teeny tiny pony have a proper job!

Thanks. It was a very special moment in her childhood (for me lol) and I hope her too.

Lol he isn't that much of an angel he has a home made daisy rein on :D

I think if I told her it made him uncomfortable she would cry! I am going to try and get her doing an intermittent 2 point seat today which should help strengthen her legs and then we might get a rising trot in the future.

For the folk who can't see the vid here are a few pics instead :) sorry I didn't think of that before!

We ended up buying a little treeless saddle for our Dartie, but I suspect it would be too big for Titchy. Her rider found it a lot easier than a Cub though and it is the first saddle that has actually been secure on roly poly Dartie!

The 3 lines thingy worked for me. Just got a new iPad and I couldn't get it to work on the old one though.

Have to say that your little in must have great shock absorption in her bottty.
Was Titch ridden before you bought him? I remember you posting about getting him but can't remember if he'd been ridden before. If not you've got a real little gem there.

I like the Zoe snape one as its specifically for shets under 35" (from memory). That's the worry that nothing will fit.

I think she looks bouncier in the vids than in real life! She will have a great sitting trot when she is older.

No, he had been a much loved and very well handled pet but he had not been ridden. We got him in January and backing consisted of putting her on his back and going for a walk, then I put the saddle on, again, no issues. We went to PC the Monday evening, having got him on the Friday. Last month I invested in 6 days with a pro getting him long reining. Otherwise he has just had us teaching him in fits and starts as weather and my time allowed (ie she didn't ride him while I was lambing for 6 weeks really). Last night is the first time she has got him trotting without me helping persuade him. He is astoundingly fast at picking things up and if I'd been told he was a seasoned child's pony, I would have had no reason to doubt it! She has him completely under control and can trot to a certain point then back to walk and was keeping the correct distance from my pony which I thought was brilliant as much older kids can't seem to get that when we are at PC!

His previous owner knew him from a foal, so I know his entire life history (he is only 6).

Aww they look great together, will be very sad when she outgrows him though :(.

It looks like they are learning so much from each other, a great start for her :), look forward to seeing more updates!

OMG that is so lovely! And yes I am snivelling. what a marvellously brave and talented daughter you have FW! And how brilliant of you both to have got Titchy to being such a smashing pony. Very admiring of your bravery in letting her off the lead rein too - great for her confidence and ability. :D

My friends daughter who has taller parents than my daughter and is ten months older, still looks ok on him so hopefully we will get a year. Then she will be ready to back her next one:

I think the only thing to do is amputation..
Don't let your daughter see this, she may think i'm serious and that i'm a big, nasty lunatic!! :o :D

Yeah I don't think she'd be for that :eek::D

Just glorious - what a lovely video. Thank you.:)

Thank you :D

Thanks for the pm. Completely gorgeous! !!

No problem and thanks :)

I could watch that all day :D

Thanks for the tip too...managed to watch it on the iPad x

Ah good. The iPad thing drove me mad til I found that!

Thanks! The reason I did it was the track is too narrow to lead her. There is a horse gate so they couldn't end up on the road and it is mostly well fenced (but its about 100 acres lol!). I felt it was fairly safe, there is no one around up there with dogs etc and she has very good control/steering at home. I was nervous tho! My Mum said wasn't I worried she fell off, and I said no, I was worried he took off and she didn't fall off more than anything! She has a BP on all the time and safety stirrups and he is so good, I think it is an acceptable level of risk and as I am mounted, I could outrun them in an emergency.

Awwwwwww! :D

Thanks :)

Fabulous you are going to spend many years with your heart in your mouth, and your hand over your eyes.x and very empty pockets.:D

You are also a techno genius thank you :)
