We are planning to go to Ireland in June as this particular horse who is competing at Tattersalls has caught our eye. Just thought it would be a good idea to try others whilst we are out there to make the journey more worthwhile!

Who would you recommend to go and see? etc...... {eg: sport horse/event dealers}

Thanks for any Info

PS: The horse we are going to see {hopefully} is based at Fernhill Sport Horse Centre so will obviously try a selection there.

I went last Summer to find a youngster, and John Killoran in County Wexford (who is a part of the Kiltealy Stud) was fantastic, he not only showed us his own horses (we ended up buying one of his), but showed us to another 2 dealers yards, a Connemara Stud and a professional Sj'ers horse. He was brilliant, and can really recommend, spent his weekend helping us out, we saw how the horses were schooled, where etc.

Another one, was Oliver Walsh, Flowerhill Sport Horses (:/ I think), hired horses from his yard for a days hunting in 2006, and he was very nice, and we helped at his yard, and he had some veryy nice horses and a huge selection too (though we didn't go from a buying perspective).

I have no idea whereabouts either of these places are in relation to where your going, but hope it helps. :)

Richard Sheane !! He showed me some lovely horses - (actually took us to Fernhill stud as well). All the horse he showed were exactly what I had said I was looking for and all priced at or below my budget..there was absolutely no pressure to buy anything, he was incredibly knowledgeable and it was great day ..

The horse I bought is lovely - fantastic attitude.. Would definitely buy another through him.

He has a website and is also on Rachael Wakefields site as he is her 'Irish Agent'.

Im guessing you are looking for an eventer :p

There is the Smith Bros. in Gilford who have very nice horses, I know of a super 16h mare who floats and jumps on wings (feels like it!) she is at PN level. I tried her myself and would have bought but decided to keep my own!

:) Fernhill horses are lovely, but personally I prefer Balladeer Horses, I think they always have really lovely, talented horses :)

Your best bet would be to get hold of Clare Ryan. She knows every single event horse in the country and is a mine of information.
