A very bittersweet day for me.....

So it was a sad day on Monday (for me anyway) as Bug went to his new home 

It was a very sad decision to think about selling him, especially as he is the only fun one that I have what with Dot being off games and Belle & Willow being baby field potatoes. I had to think about the long term plan though as hopefully next year Dottie and Belle should hopefully be going eventing and I wouldn’t have time/funds/inclination to try and event 3.

It was a sad to think about Bug having a new human but I bred the others out of my special mare and so he was the only one that could go :(

I thought Id do a little recap, for me mostly, about Bug and I. My boyfriend and friends took all the photos!

He came to me almost 2 years ago, from my friend, who bred him. He was 4 and was unbacked, he had been living it up in a field with his buddies and it was a shock for him to move. He was a good egg about it and within a week I had backed him.

These were his early days…

We had a big problem when we nearly lost him. He had joint sepsis and the vets said it was only a 50/50 chance of him making it, even after surgery. He was on lots of drugs!

But he healed fantastically and was up and running again in no time

It’s safe to say that I shed a few tears as he was driven out of the yard without me, but the feeling of happiness for both him and his new human trumped any sad feelings I might have. I hope with everything that they have an awesome time with each other and that he can make them as happy as he made me.

And you never know…. This may not be the last that HHO hears about Bugalug ;) ;) ;)

Thanks for reading

Sad but you can look back at those pics and say "I made that" and be very proud of yourself.
I'm assuming by that last comment another HHO has bought him ??

Yes, lovely thread. He is gorgeous and it looks like you had a lot of fun together.

Now, mystery shopper step forward and reveal yourself! Not really, but best of luck with your lovely new horse.

Wow what a fantastic job you did with him, one lucky person gets to be his new mum now. Mind you that is a lot of pressure buying a made horse which is why I only get unbroken ones.

I hope the new owner has years of fun out of him good luck.

I'm so proud of him and Im pleased with the job I did with him. He really went through a transformation into what he is now.

Im sure you will hear from his new person. I think she will probably wait until she has had some bug based adventures to tell you about though. There have already been some, so I'm sure it wont be long!!

Cracking horse - credit to you! You should be so proud of him/yourself, especially that you've managed to achieve all that in under two years. I hope we do see more of him!

Also looking forward to seeing you produce your others - bet they are going to be great, too!

He's such a lovely boy, it's easy to see why you're sad about him going. But he's going to have so much fun in his new home and I'm really rooting for loads of Bug adventure updates :)

Can't believe the difference in him from when you first had him!!!!

Aww I love all your big photo threads.

It really sucks being sensible and grown up about things but glad he's gone to a good home and HHOer to keep up with how he's getting on.

Here's to the future with your girls!

Thank you everyone. Your kind words have made me feel really happy indeed. I know it was right for him to be there, I keep getting texts and messages about how awesome he is and it makes me smile and realise that this was all for the best :)

Excellent that he's settling in and already well loved. Well done!

I always think one of the nicest parts of starting horses is seeing them go out in the world, have a nice life and bring pleasure. Dick Francis said, in his autobiography, that he used to be sad when horses moved on when they were just starting to get fun, but then he got sad about the ones that left before that point because he hadn't done his best for them yet.
