I went to see my horse Pete today at Rockley farm. He had a navicular diagnosis two years ago but last year spent six months off work with other problems. Well he has been with Nic for five weeks and the improvement is excellent. He went in egg bar shoes, and in slow motion was slipping with his hind feet and landing mainly toe first in front. He was sound but I felt he had more in him so was very happy when he was accepted to go.
Today! He is landing heel first in his newly bare feet, he is very comfortable on all the gentler surfaces and has made lots of new friends including Brigitte his new love!
I was lucky enough to be able to go out for a hack with him for about 45 minutes. He felt fantastic! Despite the rain. Noticeably more comfortable and relaxed going downhill. he 'felt' the rougher surfaces but he felt as good as I expected a fully rehabbed horse would ! I have no bench mark of course but if that was as good as it got it's already pretty amazing!
One chuffed owner who felt like crying again after the ride, tears of joy!
Thanks for reading. More blogging from Nic promised to the fans by the way!
My horse is in a very special place.

Think he wants her mobile number!
I wonder if Nic's biggest problem in pony paradise is the separation anxiety caused by the holiday romances!
