Went to view a horse a week ago and wondered what you would price him at:

15.3hh 5yr old irish gelding. Being schooled at the moment and has a bold jump and moves nicely. Not been out competing at all but a nice horse that should event at a low level eventually once more established on the flat. Still green, no vices etc. Good to hack.

He is dark bay. No not wanting to post pics as not my horse, if that makes sense!

I am fairly old fashioned in thinking all horses right now are way too over priced!!

I am totally confused about how much he is really worth. he is a little sensitive to ride, not really sharp but needs a quiet experienced rider if you know what i mean!

But really it's about how much you are prepared to pay for something you have seen and may like. If the advert clearly represents what you have seen, the price is within your range, and you like the horse - buy it.

It doesn't really matter what anyone says it's worth at the end of the day - just what you are prepared to shell out.
 
Well after seeing the horse i felt he was very over priced so just wondered if i was way off in regards to the price of horses now days or if the horse really was over priced.

How much are they asking???
 
I have said in PM that I thought it was a bit pricey.

However, the hunting in Ireland could be adding to the value if it's done a season and proved itself. I may well pay what they're asking.
 
I think I might be shot down here but just how much do people think it costs to breed a horse keep it for 4 years break it in and start it at shows.Add up the stud fee ,keeping the mare, vets fees, worming,foot trimming ,vacs and registration,it costs a lot of money ,then try to sell it and people say well its not done much, so you start to hire places and pay entries then they say well it hasn't done affil. so you register and start to get good results then they want to pay half what it cost you then when they get it they are not very good riders so they start to have problems and blame the poor breeder/producer.
Glad I only bred one for myself 10 years ago it must be a fools business

I agree to a certain extent. But having been informed a bit more about this horses history I suspect that it was one of many. Will have had minimal amounts of money spent on it. Been hammered around the hunting field for a season. Bought in the sales for peanuts. Exported here. Price trebled. Sold.

That's not what I was implying with this particular horse. Just that he may well have been one of many.
 
My boy was from Ireland and very green.

I'd advise a very thorough vetting as some of them get ridden into the ground in Ireland (the ones I have seen have anyway)!
