:( How absolutely rotten. I am so sorry to read this, it is heartbreaking when that happens, knocks the wind right out of your sails. My sympathies.

Lauren that is so sad. I am glad Tia is ok and hope you all feel better soon. My friend's mare had a stillborn filly in 2009, it was perfect dark bay filly exactly what she ordered - so cruel and sad. However her consolation was her mare recovered from the ordeal far quicker than she did!

That is so so sad. Especially as it was so gorgeous looking ... so many "what ifs".
Chin up and give your lovely mare a hug x

So so sorry to hear your news. I know exactly how you are feeling. My mare (Alice) lost her foal on 11th April, speak with Joanna Vardon at the National Foaling Bank she is amazing and full of many comforting & practical tips. We would have loved to foster a foal for Alice but none turned up in time. She stood over her perfect long legged dark bay colt for 2 1/2 days hardly drinking or eating, it was so upsetting, I think I just cried for most of the week. But now a month on you would never know she went through it, she looks fab and is back off to stud in the morning. Fingers crossed 2012 will be our year :)
I know you & your girl are going through hell right now, but it really does get easier and they are over it well before us.
We named our little man Dream and have buried him by her fav paddock & planted a tree over him.
Sleep well little ones xx
massive ((((((((hugs)))))))) to you & your mare.
If you need an understanding ear pm me.
Xxxxxxxx

So sorry to hear this, I have been reading your posts with interest as I love the look of your mare. Sounds like he would have been a beautiful foal. RIP

We didn't find a foster foal for Dolly, but we did milk off all her colostrum. Clodagh on here had some last year, and the rest of it went off Derbyshire last week. The foal was born sunday, and after having the colostrum, didn't need a plasma transfusion. It does make me feel that Dolly didn't go through all of it for nothing.

Thankyou for the advice, we have milked and frozen her colostrum so hopefully it can help someone else.

Thankyou for your kind words, I think I remember your story. Tia would have made a great mum, she licked him and nuzzled him just as they should. We have buried the little man as I couldn't bear for him to go elsewhere. Tia is looking really well and is so much better in herself already. Glad your mare is doing well and lots of luck, hopefully you will have a healthy foal next year. We are speaking with our stud vet and are trying to look ahead to next year. :)

Just wanted to add my condolences - this time last year we were eagerly awaiting Donks impending delivery, all went so well and then two days later she was gone - there are no words for the desolation you must be feeling. Another vote for Joanna at the National Foaling bank here too.

Donks foal is nearly a year old now, we were lucky enough to find the most amazing and loving foster mare (we cried when we had to take her back) and he is a bouncing cheeky but loving colt.
