Oh I'm so terribly sorry to read this! devastating for you Your mare will recover and bounce back shortly - I know that's of little consolation atm though - hugs
We didn't find a foster foal for Dolly, but we did milk off all her colostrum. Clodagh on here had some last year, and the rest of it went off Derbyshire last week. The foal was born sunday, and after having the colostrum, didn't need a plasma transfusion. It does make me feel that Dolly didn't go through all of it for nothing.
So so sorry to hear your news. I know exactly how you are feeling. My mare (Alice) lost her foal on 11th April, speak with Joanna Vardon at the National Foaling Bank she is amazing and full of many comforting & practical tips. We would have loved to foster a foal for Alice but none turned up in time. She stood over her perfect long legged dark bay colt for 2 1/2 days hardly drinking or eating, it was so upsetting, I think I just cried for most of the week. But now a month on you would never know she went through it, she looks fab and is back off to stud in the morning. Fingers crossed 2012 will be our year
I know you & your girl are going through hell right now, but it really does get easier and they are over it well before us.
We named our little man Dream and have buried him by her fav paddock & planted a tree over him.
Sleep well little ones xx
massive ((((((((hugs)))))))) to you & your mare.
