First of all thank you everyone who pm'd txt and responded to post below, means alot.

The day didnt get off to a great start, zip broke in good luck breeches, so had to find another equally lucky pair - which proves hard...
Arrive at yard and drag monster in, clean him up and load on the lorry - first time! woo hoo
Arrive at the event, boy!!! it was like reliving my childhood as i was a student at BCA back in 1993-1994
Unloaded and tacked up ventured over to the dressage, was also great because i managed to park next to a friend i hadnt seen for a while.
Warmed up well, arena was next to sjing down the furthest part of the field, ponio thew in a huge rear before entering the far field

but put up a brilliant dressage test to score 32, judge stepped out of her car and asked *is he really only 5?* she thought he was wonderful and said i rode very well - CUE BIG SMILE

Went back for a sandwich and then walked the xc course, everything was lovely, far smaller than last week but there were twists and turns and a variety of good fences.
The water had me worried, big log 3 strides to drop into water with a hanging log the otherside.
I jsut havent ever jumped into water with snoop and only being the 2nd last fence I would be gutted to be eliminated here.
Anyway waited around for 3 hours until sjing. They were running late, YAWN!
Horse warmed up okay, bit gobby, but because he had to wait 30 mins longer he really got upset.
I stood by the steward waiting to hear that i had one or two before me, but no! 567 youre next! WHAT!!!
*Come on 567 they are waiting for you* now im just trying to turn a circle here course then numbnuts decides he wants to have a paddy and stands straight up twice clearing the collecting ring!
mad.gif

Goes in, and all hell lets loose, blooming thing just yanks me around with his head in the air. He was unlucky to have two down behind as he really only touched them by a whisker but the planks he really booted out with force!
I was livid and so pissed off with him.
Got him back to the lorry, didnt speak to him! got him changed and hopped on and canterd him to the start of the xc.
He warmed up with enthusiasum, and went into the start gate, flew over the first two fences got in close to the 3rd. Picked up nicely then getting into our stride, then got a little close to 6 which was at a right angle to fence 5 as a 5 stride combi thing.
Kicked on and jumped nicely over the bank to skinny, half sunken road, over the big hedge and over the trakehner - flying onto the water, i wasnt in the mood for sillyness but need not have worried like a pro flew threw the water and out the other side, chipped in close to the last but finished 4 seconds inside the time putting us into the lead after 15 of my section had gone
smile.gif

The sjing caused mayhem, and only 2 combis in my section managed a clear round. So we finished a creditable 9th even with 3 down because our dressage was good, plus we had a good clear round xc. Didnt realise how much the water caused problems but it did. Mind you I did think it was a big ask at PN level.

So yes very happy BBs.

Ponio loaded first time too, so happy with that and get back to the yard around 7pm.
Unloaded and washed out lorry.

On the route home (only 15 mins from yard to home) i could smell burning, didnt think anything of it.
Turn into the road (2 miles from home) hear something go under the wheels and next minute screeching!!!!!
Fanbelts come off arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
We've ive just got home, after waiting from 8pm for the recovery truck which arrived at 10pm! to be towed home 2 minutes.
Brilliant tho, the truck was fabby! will upload pics tomorrow lol

But now have a broken lorry *SULK* which needs fixing before next Saturday *YIKES*

Thanks for reading.. BBs hopes she might sleep tonight.

Vx

Oooh well done!! I knew you would do well. Snoop is so lovely! I was gona text but I'm one of those people who thinks good luck texts make everything go wrong lol.

I've just got back from Longleat in much the same way, only we had 2 fire engines and about 20 firemen out to our lorry

Am now straight off to work (very tired) but will write a reoprt when i get back..

Very well done with your boy!!!!!

Naughty boy in the sj but still a good result and absolutely delighted for you. Lorry breaking made it a very long day but at least you had dropped the boy off at the yard, would have been ten times worse with him still on board.

Hope you slept well and are still on cloud nine with your result, you should be

That's really fab - well done!
Know exactly what you mean about not talking to them! I did that the weekend before last

Well done V

I know, im gonna have to pull my finger out lol

Well Done Vix - now I understand why you didn't make an appearance on Sat, didn't know you were competing yesterday. You must be incredibly happy with him, even with the paddies, he is proving to be a bit of a star.

Indeedy, there was no way i could make it, plus tbh in the state im in i cannot face huge crowds of ppl.
I am very happy with him, sort of makes up for his childish behaviour. I got a lot of nice comments about him yesterday. But i was a tad embarrassed with his rearing infront of Jonty Evans.
If only we could get his sjing more consistant, but think S is on the case now lol

Well done, that is a great result. Amazing dressage score!!!

PN jumping down into the water seems to be coming in! Had to do it at Keysoe (second water) and Buckminster says on the schedule that there will be a jump into the water.

How times are changing!

Interesting isnt it Sillymare.
I remember starting out that would never have been asked for at that level, unless it was a faster straighter route.
I have no problem with going that route, my worry was on a horse who hadnt ever done it before.
The lady who was parked next to me was completely submerge in the water, both horse and rider went under! this is a combi although relatively new to each other, both are experienced (you know her we stayed at her gaff last year for training).
I was really pleased with his approach to it all, def doing that event boosted his confidence right up again - he now thinks he can take on badminton *SIGH*
Shipton Moyne should be a bit more challenging for him, I know the SJing will be big but have a few weeks to work on that.

Ah yes, I know the lady you mean. She is really nice.

It is making a mistake that worries me with Merry actually. He has no fear of water (at the moment) but he is so novice and confidence is wobbly, I worry that even over-jumping or hitting a bit of bad footing could spook him.

Would hate to create a problem where we don't have one at the moment!

Well done you! Snoops is now top man in the Cocky Five Year Olds Eventing Club, Ross being only his humble assistant! I'm sure the showjumping will slot into place soon, but what brill dressage and cross country. I'll see you at MK on Saturday, let me know what time you're on.

PMSL! its going to be very exciting with those two naughty boys together in the same class!
Im jsut going out the door, will pm you later about saturday.

Sounds like a great day. You can get his SJ sorted, and the rest was brilliant. 32 for dressage!! Hope you have photos etc to upload for us later on.
Don't worry about the fanbelt situation. We had one go on our truck about 4 miles from home (funny smell and engine temp guage shooting up), but we were able to coast home luckily. The fanbelt itself was only a few pounds and wasn't a long job. Shouldn't cost you too much anyway.
Was a bummer though after such a good day.
