Well me and the doglets are all moved. Its been very very very very very stressfull and it still is a bit but we are all settled into our new cottage (with a few things to do and a few boxes left to unpack still!)
The dogs really have been very good indeed. Sunday they spent alot of the day cooped up at the old house whilst I ferried boxes in the car. Monday they spent most of the day cooped up in the old house whilst we ferried furniture in the van..at 7 ish they came back with me in the car for the last load and left the old house behind. They then spent about 2 hours in the car whilst the van was unloaded and I attempted to make the house viable to let four dogs into amongst all the boxes! They all slept in the bed with me that night! Tuesday they spent most of the day cooped up in the new house whilst I went back and cleaned the old house and did the key hand over. Bearing in mind during this time they didnt have a garden either! Well they did have a little teeny garden but all apart from Flora refused to poo in it and there is not enough room to swing a cat! Wednesday work commenced on the proper garden and I managed to fit in some decent long walks. There is absolutely fabulous walking round here all literally on the doorstep which is great. What has this week become our regular walk has a lovely stream at the bottom of the hill and everyone has enjoyed a good swim daily. Thursday the garden was unvieled to them in the evening, all but about 6 ft of the fencing was complete by then so I blocked that bit up and opened the gate.....the look on their faces was hilarious, they hadnt seen that there was more garden at all, I had hidden it from them all week!
They had a little sniff round for half an hour and wierdly totally seemed to relax for the rest of the night, like they finally felt at home now there was a proper garden after all! The next morning the fence was finished before they were even out of bed and after walks they spent the rest of the day out there! I couldnt afford to turf it as well as the very expensive fence I have had erected so I have seeded it today and hopefully we will have a proper lawn soon!
I have been walking them in pairs which is rather annoying (four walks a day is not good for a cripple that is really overdoing things as it is!
) Partly because F is in season, partly because I need to suss out how many other dogs use the routes and what they are and what times etc! Partly because they have to get used to walking on leads again, we rarely went anywhere on leads at the old place they just werent neccessary! Its been quite nice actually, walking Tilly and Flora together has given me the chance to focus on Floras field training again whilst walking (something that is totally impossible if Ellie is with us because all they do is play and hunt together!) Shes come back to it really well in just a few days.
Tilly is rather pleased that her huge bed didnt fit under the stairs in the kitchen and now has her own bedroom upstairs instead!
The other dogs think this is quite good too as mummy bought a new sqishy bed that does fit under the stairs and makes a really good den!
I'm very proud of the way they have behaved and coped with everything, its not been an easy week for them either.
I will post pics soon (like when I can find my camera!)
