I am judging the workers at a local show on Sunday and having a small panic about what I should wear.
I do not want to get togged up in breeches and jacket as I will not be riding due to there being only one class I could ride in. so I am thinking:
Beige smart trousers, flat shoes, v neck jumper, blouse and smart navy gilet. Will this be smart enough? For anyone who knows me I am not a floral dress kind of person and my wardrobe consists of business suits or surfer stuff!

Oooh is it this sunday?
Where is it, I'm working for Tabs in the morning but may pop down PM for a laugh

Do you want to do some dressage on the Yak? Actually just realised stupid question hes not under 15.2hh and you loathe dressage! Anyway if you do fancy getting out and competing let me know as have to go to the event and I think you would both be good at Handy Pony!!

I have lovely brown legs thanks to a week in Italy but they will not be on show - its not fair to people!

I think you should wear a skirt, judges usually do

I second that motion!

But lec, judges always wear long skirts, a blouse and a nice hat! I think what you're planning to wear sounds very smart though.

I can just see it now - the floral dress, the jacket in pastel and a big hat - will see if my 90 year old Granny is willing to give up some of her clothes. I have purple hunters so guess I will see if she has Lavender coloured clothes!!

Smart trousers are absolutely fine for local level, and what you describe sounds smart, although a jacket would be smarter than a jumper. I tend to wear joddie boots under trousers so I don't get wet tights/socks too!

Do you have a hat? That's the most essential bit of your outfit.

I'm sure you'll be smart enough, those who worry about it usually are

I have a baseball cap would that do?

On a serious note - hat?? I have a blue beagler?? Was just going to look neat and tidy and attempt to brush my hair!!

Maybe this is why there are not more younger judges its the clothing dilema if they are not riding!

Yeah! I wanna play showing with Rodney, do they have 'pony judge would most like to take home'? or 'most handsome gelding'

thats cheating - although if he didn't win.... poor Rodney

Have just checked and you are eligible for: I would just like to add that I am not involved in any of these classes so you would have to take them seriously as I am not having my baby disgraced!

I think a beagler would look OK if you are wearing a tweed jacket, but if not, then one of those australian stock hats may be OK. It is really hard for women who are judging and not riding and are not into the flowery dresses and wedding hats. If it is raining, then I would definitely go for the stockmans hat, but if it is sunny, that may look silly. Are you sure you don't have a long skirt that you could borrow with a small hat?

Do you have one of those straw trilby efforts perhaps?

I can't think of anything else that would work with what you are planning on wearing. A tweed jacket with a feminine straw trilby may look OK.

Rather you than me!!!!!

It is such a nightmare! I really have no long skirts! Ask me to present a business meeting and I know what I should wear! After all male judges all wear suits if not riding but somehow for women its not quite right! Also I seriously doubt the weather will be very nice which will make my life even easier as have a smart rain coat, water proof stock hat and hunters!

I agree about young judges and outfits - I feel like an old bid when I judge sometimes, and I don't dress that old for a 24 year old! I bought my first long skirt for years this week, which is for judging, I don't think you're unusual in not having a stock of skirts!

A beagler wouldn't be suitable with what you're wearing, I wear a suede bushman's type hat if it's colder or sometimes a straw type hat if it's sunny, a waterproof hat is fine if it looks like it might rain.

It's so much easier when you can just put a smart long rain coat over the top and not worry too much about what's underneath!

Can I do them all? Would this involve me having to look smart? Rodney says he needs a new rosette to add to his collection!
