I have just brought a fantastic little horse, I'm a little wobbly but I'm getting there slowly and i have a great instructor.

A horse i have wanted for about 4 years has just come up for sale, she has done sod all for about 6 months, and her owner is pregnant and feels she is too nice to just be a field ornament, so has said i can have her on permanent loan or wvtb.
She is a cracking little mare, i know her inside and out, i have known her for 4 odd years, she will need restarting but i wouldn't plan on doing anything till spring and weather is better, and she is 13 yrs old, and a absolute sweet heart and would be no trouble riding again, (i have ridden her before).

I am a stay at home mum, i have nothing else to do all day, and i can well afford it. But i am getting a lot of negative comments, saying because i have had some nerves, i should stick to the one horse.
I have had 2 horses before, and it was hard, but they were two youngsters that both needed riding twice a day.

If took this new one, it would be easier as i could alternate days as they are both oldies.

I don't mind people being honest, if you were in my shoes (as much as you can be in cyberspace LOL) what would you do

It sounds like you have alrady made your mind up in your head.

If everything is pointing to buying her and it feels right to you i would go for it. At the end of the day it is your decision and if you know the pony and feel dont feel worried about starting her again then again no problems

Go for it!!!

I would say go for it. You have already said you have the time and finances to take on another horse so I don't see a problem.

I also describe myself as a "horsewife" (its hardly housework thats getting done !). Go for it ! if you find it is too much you can sell one (but I bet you don't !) and if shes been standing in a field doing nothing for 6 months she can hardly do less with you ! and as for the nerves, I find if one is playing me up riding another one who is being good helps.

If you DEFFO have the money, time, skill and inclination, then go for it. Remember tho, that will be 2 horses you may want to have lessons on, 2 x everything else, etc, etc... I keep looking at having 2 horses but I have to be honest with myself that I struggle with hours in the day during the winter months and therefore unless I can find a lot more get-up-and-go it is a non starter....then there are school holidays to contend with and whilst I can keep my children occupied whilst I deal with 1 horse, 2 would be pushing it!

Just be honest

I thought that if you had a friend that could ride and share the costs, it would be nice for you to have company and take both horses out together, I always have my much longer rides in company and gain more pleasure out of it.

As for the mare, sentiment comes into, knowledge of her and the willingness to look after two horses. I am sure you will cope and besides if you struggle you can seek the above mentioned to help out.
