National Polocrosse championship at the weekend at my team won the E division! I'm quite pleased, although in fairness I think they would have won without me. I usually play in D division but most the other players on my team were playing in E for the first time and had low handicaps. They are all great little players because they practise hard from morning to night, they deserved to win.
The only thing is... Anyone I knew who knew I was playing in E division looked at me like I was scum! Actually that's not true, some did and some understood. The girls I was playing with were all on borrowed ponies except one who had bought her pony a week or so before and they were good players because they worked hard at it. Next year they will move up. I think it is unfair that people suggested that they should already be higher up though- why should they move up in their first season and be the worst in that division when they have worked darned hard to be best in the lower division?
I was there to help out and also because we didn't have enough players with the right handicap for a team in my usual division. In all honesty, I was little help at all and the games were won by the little pocket rockets on their (slightly ancient) steeds!
That's odd, what started as a happy post has turned into almost a rant! Anyway, opinions please? Should my little kiddies have been thrown to the wolves in a higher grade or should they have correctly won their division?
